A1 PIZZA CENTRE — Restaurant in Hamilton

I work in the area and have stopped in at lunch for a slice give or take 100 times over the past 10-15 years. I have obviously enjoyed it otherwise I wouldn't keep coming back. However over the past year or so I have noticed a drop in the quality of the food. Noticeably less cheese on the slices, throwing the balance off, causing the sauce to become almost over powering. They also don't heat up the slices long enough, so its room temp at best when eating. Both of which never used to be an issue. I also sometimes find little bits/crumbs on top of the cans of pop. You can blow them right off, but again it never used to be an issue.

Not sure what happened, cutting corners because of inflation, is it only the ready made slices that have changed, have they become too reliant on the students across the street eating it no matter what due to lack of choice, change of ownership? Not sure, but again it has been a noticeable change over the last year or so...and based on some of the other reviews, I'm not the only one who's noticed a change in the way they operate.

Don't get me wrong, its still a decent slice at a good price, friendly staff, place looks clean (although the empty ice cream freezers are borderline depressing) and I'll continue to eat there, for now...just less often. Definitely on the brink of losing a long time...

I work in the area and have ordered from A1 dozens of times, usually on my way home. I've almost always ordered online, and I notice often that the price in store is a few dollars more than what I'm given online. I always chalked it up to the online order system not properly calculating the toppings. I then ordered two pizza subs for my commute home. When I picked them up, the employee (not the owner) told me he added cheese because he assumed I had forgot. When asked for an explanation, he told me that it doesn't come with cheese. He said you have to select it in the drop-down. I showed him on my cell phone that the drop down says "Extra Cheese", and that ALL pizza comes with cheese unless you ask for no cheese. He said I was wrong, and I never ordered from there again. That was probably about two years ago. The reason I'm writing this review now is because I was considering trying to order there again–maybe that employee was the issue and he is now gone–but when I looked at these reviews I saw that someone else had posted a similar experience. The pizza is very good, though....

This has always been our go-to pizza and wing spot for years, but the last two orders have been really disappointing. The pizza is still good, but the wings have changed a lot in both taste and amount of sauce. I always ask for extra saucy wings, yet one order came with barely any sauce and the wrong items—wrong wing count and three garlic breads instead of one.

When I called, the manager was polite and offered a free pound next time, which I appreciated. But when I ordered again for family and guests, I explained the issue to the employee and was assured the wings would be extra saucy. Unfortunately, they came barely sauced again and just weren’t good.

Something has definitely changed, and for the price, the quality just hasn’t been there. Sadly, after years of being loyal customers, we’re now looking...
