Was very excited for our lobster dinner. Shore Club had come highly recommended.
Firstly, mussels are not unlimited as advertised - at some point they must have changed to one plate per person. This is fine, but flyers and menu should be updated accordingly. The mussels are also not very hot. Think more limited and lukewarm rather than unlimited and fresh.
Soda machine in need of a major clean, the soft drinks from it taste off and flat. Only received resistance and denial from the waitress when I raised this.
Dessert order was taken while I was still eating my lobster. And dessert then arrived while I was still eating my lobster. There was only three of us and we had a booking - so to me it really displayed a sell sell sell and high turnover attitude. Waitress didn’t seem to think any issue with not waiting for me to finish eating before barging on ahead with dessert.
The dessert that did arrive was half a dry scone with some sad jam on top.
Lobster nice. Salad bar has a fairly good choice and was nicely chilled - although no salad per se just pastas and potato salad.
TLDR - mature waitress was sharp and rude. Mussels lacklustre. Lobster good. Would have been 3 stars, however because of the contempt of the service I can’t exceed 1. Spend $55...
Read moreMy review is for a quiet Sunday night. I feel this place on a Saturday when there is dancing going on is absolutely the place to be in Hubbard's. The atmosphere is fantastic. The restaurant turns into a dance floor when needed. Long bench seating comfortably sits large parties. Staff was quite friendly. They took the kids back to the lobster tank to take pictures with the lobsters. Complimentary tea and water self-serve. We were even lucky enough to get live entertainment which I would highly recommend if you know it is going to be there.
I was part of a large party and sampled many dishes. The chicken cordon bleu was unfortunately hard as a rock. One of my kids ordered mac n cheese, and it had a strange cardboard taste. The lobster, although delicious, was priced much higher than what I would expect (about 25% more than middle of nowhere America even after a currency conversion).
So why still four stars? Well, who comes to a place like this for chicken or mac n cheese? You are really coming for the lobster. I am sure they have their reasons for prices being what they are. If you are willing to pay a bit more for an enjoyable dinner with a laid back atmosphere, then check out...

Pros: Nice looking restaurant, good salad bar with lots of options, and the desserts were good.
Cons: Lobster is inconsistent, the lobster I was served was alright but the lobster my mother was severed had a bad taste to it. It was night and day. When sent back, the response from the staff was rude and they didn’t put any effort into fixing the situation.. Also in my opinion the mussels were pretty bland and were almost cold right out of the container that you get them from. The macaroni and cheese served to my sister was incapably disappointing. It was not worth her paying 32 dollars for a salad, a couple mussels and a macaroni and cheese that she ate 1 bit out of and then didn’t touch. When I gave it a try I didn’t want it either. I could make KD out of the box and it would be better.
Conclusion: Not worth the long drive and the 50 dollors for the lobster. My advice would be to save your self some disappointment and money, just cook yourself a much better lobster dinner at home.. Or I did have a great experience at New Glasgow Lobster in PEI although it’s a...
