I rarely leave reviews anywhere, but since I've had the pleasure of staying overnight here and dining in on many occasions over the years, I figured I was well overdue to leave one here. In short, if you are passing through Ingonish, this is a must stop, and if you are planning a trip up to Cape Breton, it's a dreamy place and property to enjoy for a few nights while exploring the national park and surrounding areas.

The Periwinkle Cafe has a wide variety of options for meals made with local ingredients, as well as fresh baked goods, and plenty of non-alc and local alc options. If you're not feeling peckish, it's worth dropping in to check out the shop and array of locally made jewelry. My wife and I had the privilege making our wedding bands at a wedding band workshop here, and also holding our wedding reception here in 2022, and I could go on and on about how these folks go above and beyond with every detail. If ever you had a concern, trust that they’d be happy to listen and understand.

If you’d like any specific recommendations here, I’ll recommend the brekkie sandwich, a cinnamon roll, oatcake or scone, and a piquette, but you can’t go wrong. Not to go on and on but we have nothing but love for this special place, which I hope you have the...

Salty Rose's and the Periwinkle Cafe hosted our wedding on labour day weekend. We had 130 guests, two fully catered feasts, 2 Yurts (Mongolian tents), a full bar (one at night and one at brunch) and 3 nights booked in the Inn. In short it was a lot of work. However the amazing staff at The Periwinkle made it all look easy.

Our guests had the time of there lives. They raved about the food, the service and the unparalleled setting. For those of you unfamiliar with the Cabot Trail, the Periwinkle is in the middle of paradise, close to sandy beaches and great hiking trails. It's a ideal destination wedding location.

I hear the bride and groom are often too stressed to enjoy their own wedding but that was definitely not our experience. Without exaggeration The Periwinkle made our little wedding dreams come true -careful and thoughtful service with a delicious personalised menu, super professional, no corners cut with so much heart. Don't hesitate to book an...

We visited Salty Roses for a 2 night stay and enjoyed two rooms (the Dandelion room and Roses Apartment)

It is an absolutely beautiful spot with fantastic food and a cozy atmosphere. The decor is fresh and charming, very cheerful and comfortable.

We arrived on an evening the store and cafe were closed and decided to drive nearby to pick up dinner at the local take our seafood shack, and stroll near the wharf at sunset

If you visit, make sure to chat with the owners, Caitlin and Sarabeth. They are lovely and inspiring with many tips on exploring the area, food recommendations at their friends places.

Caitlin is an accomplished jewellery designer and has a sweet studio in the back of the shop, she's curated a lovely boutique experience of East Coast art, decor, jewelry and clothing.

Next door is a goat farm, you won't regret paying the sheep, ducks, donkey and horse a visit.

Ten out of ten recommend staying and...

We had the best staycation at Salty Roses! We stayed for three nights at the Inn on their opening weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The Lily and Dandelion Rooms and bathroom were beautifully and thoughtfully set up. Spotless, comfortable and easy to rest and relax in, felt like we were coming home each time after our little adventures. We really enjoyed starting each day with fresh baked goodies and great coffee too. My kids wished we could have stayed for longer and spent every moment they could visiting the goats next door at another favourite place of ours, the Groovy Goat Farm. Thank you to Sarabeth and Caitlyn and their crew for our peaceful getaway and a chance for some quality downtime with my Mum while she was visiting. The kids made some wonderful memories with Nana on our stay. We love Salty Roses and the Periwinkle Cafe!

What a cute gem! I ordered the lavender london fog, home limonade and, deluxe veggie sandwich. The drinks : 5/5 - the London fog was insanely good, the lavender syrup is so delicious The veggie sandwich : 3/5 - sadly it was disappointing as it really missed something to make it more of a complete meal and more balanced flavours like hummus or veggie pâté or tofu spread. It was a toast with lettuce, tomatoes, shreded carrots, a small slice of cheese and a pickle on top. The veggies were kf high quality and very fresh. However, I was hungry 1 hour later 🥲 because of the lack of protein. (Note : mine was with gluten free bread which makes it extra dry) But I still highly recommend this café for something other than the veggie sandwich. The gift shop is lovely.
