Eggsquis — Restaurant in Joliette

We had brunch here with my MiL as it’s her favorite. However today our server was bad mannered: she (Sandra or something; her face is on the wall going into the place) only came to our table to take the order, offer 1 coffee refill and was very quick to bring the card machine to get rid of us. Her much friendlier colleagues came to check on us with refill offerings more than twice throughout the meal but not her. So, as MiL wanted to treat us today, she paid with her card and offered to pay Ms S her tip in cash. Then the drama started: Ms S whips out her money clip with a stack of cash to break a $10 for my MiL. MiL then offers her a $5 and asks her if it’s enough (mind you, this woman already sized us all up as MiL was just dressed in a plain tee, shorts and sandals) Ms S literally laid her money clip in front of us on the table, laid out the receipt in front of MiL and said loudly to her, “Not enough, based on this, it should be more.” Thus meaning Ms S wanted us to give her a 15% tip for her lousy service. Mil then rummaged through her bag to give her a bunch of change and told her to take them instead. I’m pretty sure the company doesn’t teach servers to force customers for tips when the service is poor. My MiL is a retired nurse and she’s seen all kinds of people in her 82 years, this Ms S has barely seen the world and her behavior was truly disgusting. For what she did today, we’d rather tip her colleagues and the folks who prepared the meal. The food was great but I cannot offer 5 stars if the company hires money-minded servers...

Still serving amazing meals to go during covid. There are obviously less staff so sometimes you have to wait for your order but they do an amazing job.
