A&W Canada — Restaurant in Kitchener

We went to a wedding at Whistle Bear golf club and stayed at Kitchener Inn & Suites, just a few minutes away from here. We contemplated Harvey’s on the way home as it’s directly across from the hotel but they don’t do breakfast. I have enjoyed A&W in the past for breakfast so convinced my better half to go there (with the idea that pancakes were available).

We got there, just a few workers, and looked at the menu. Didn’t see pancakes but the cashier was helpful and rang it up so we could see how much & what came in the combo. Three big pancakes, with a very good hash brown, and a large coffee. She liked it all, though the only thing is the supplied maple syrup is just sugar solution, not real maple syrup - not their fault though, only what the supplier sends.

I had egg & cheeser, hash brown and large coffee as well. I love the breakfast on the sesame seed bun. The hash browns were so good (we may have ordered seconds 😁), probably because of the fresh fryer oil, and the coffee was also very good.

There were 2 workers we chatted with - both were very helpful and nice, didn’t get their names though. If you like A&W, or want to try it, and you’re nearby, go here. And be sure to get a frosted glass of root beer - it’s what they do...

I’ve eaten here a few times now and am not impressed. I’ve had burgers where the condiments are hanging off the edge of the bun like it was slapped together with no care. The fries have also been cold. The last time I ordered pick up, I could smell something gross coming from the bag holding my food. It stunk up my car so bad I had to open the windows. When I got home, I ate the burger but could not eat the onion rings because they simply smelled disgusting. I put them on some white paper towel and the grease that came off them was a dark brownish orange, not clear like it should be. I threw them out and called the next day to complain. I was told ‘“yes sorry about that, we’ve been having lots of problems with our onion ring fryer”. Why are they selling onion rings cooked in rancid oil when they clearly know the fryer is broken thereby putting peoples...

Probably the SLOWEST A&W I have ever been to. I often go here on my way to work for breakfast but out of more than 10 times I have been there; not even one single time did I not have to wait atleast 15 minutes. It's fast food for a reason for goodness sake! I am generally understanding if it's one off or if they seem busy, but the funny thing is this location is the least busy of all A&Ws I have been to. Even their drive thru is terrible. You still gotta go into the parking lot to wait!

The food is like any other A&W and I have no complain about it but the staff are cold and EXTREMELY SLOW 🐌. The only reason I still waste my time on this location is because it is the only one towards my work. As of recent I am going to Tim hortons beside it because although the lineup is usually long; I still find it faster than going...
