Where to begin…. My reservation was for 5pm Dec 16/23 my confirmation code K646 and we walked out by 5:45pm. They put us in B room and there was 6 longgg tables of people with at least 6 per table and they were all together. The 3 of us were at a corner table and at one time they pulled out another small table blocking the entrance because they put 2 cakes on it. I spoke with a “ Manager” in a dark suit that was standing at entrance about it blocking us entering/exiting room for food / bathroom so he came and told them it had to be pushed back against wall. 10 minutes later all of the people and there was well over 30 people blocking the entrance to the room, surrounding the cake table, singing happy birthday and getting cake. They were bumping into my chair their long scarves from dresses at one point were on my shoulder. I couldn’t even back up my chair to get up . I was so closed in and claustrophobic it was horrendous. My spouse went and told another Manager and said we want moved to another room, he said he’d come , but after a few minutes he didn’t so I stood up and said let’s go… I went out and my spouse showed me which person he spoke too and he was behind the bar doing nothing about it. The gentleman had on a white shirt no suit jacket. I said to him I want the check and we’re leaving, he come out from behind bar and we walked over to the room together, he looked and said their celebrating birthdays and getting cake and should clear soon. I said I’m celebrating my birthday too but I’m being pushed upon while I was eating and unable for us to enter and exit room without cutting through the line. You have over 30 people in entrance to get cake and I said it’s unacceptable and unsafe and he LAUGHED!!!!! My spouse said it’s not damn well funny… I said get me my bill … the guy says ohh I’m covering so you don’t have to be mad, and was laughing. I said now I’m leaving because you think it’s so funny and at no point is this funny having over 30 people surrounding you , unable to move nevermind to try and eat, there’s such a thing as personal space. He was still snickering, I said all you had to do was move us to another room/table but instead you’ve done nothing except laugh. He then said that’s just me smiling, I said that’s not a smile!!! I said you have gloves for people to use utensils on the buffet for protection but you think it’s funny to be crowded by people breathing and pushing on you and not able to move ?? He still smerked and said I’m covering your check why be mad?? I said that doesn’t make the situation right, we’re not getting our dinner!! We only got to eat salad and just when my son, spouse and self returned with plate of food we couldn’t eat because they all lined up behind us and some kids in the line yelling and adults surrounded us pushing / bumping into my chair. It was definitely against the fire codes last night. I guess since you had over 30 people paying a higher bill then our 3 person bill it gave them more rights to do whatever they wanted in the restaurant. I’m sure this review will let others know you can bring in your own cakes, take over an empty table and do whatever the heck you want in a room if you have a big enough numbers in your party. It was a memorable birthday for me, that we never got to eat and enjoy our dinner, or get a picture. I won’t recommend this location and won’t return!!!!! Wished I had got his name… but not hard to find out, ask the waitress in room B she was at the bar collecting drinks when this happened and she asked where we were going and I pointed out the guy to her that laughed at us and thinks the entire situation was funny.

Thank you for responding. I’ve sent you an email follow up a couple days ago and just waiting...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Mandarin Restaurant in Kitchener, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Here are the highlights of my visit:

Ambiance: The moment I walked through the doors, I was struck by the inviting and vibrant atmosphere. The decor is a perfect blend of traditional and modern elements, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the staff were quick to greet us with friendly smiles.

Service: The service at Mandarin Kitchener is truly top-notch. From the moment we were seated, our server Jenny was attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain the various dishes and made excellent recommendations based on our preferences. The staff continuously checked in to ensure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

Food Quality: The food at Mandarin Kitchener is simply outstanding. The buffet offered an extensive variety of dishes, each one more delicious than the last. The sushi was fresh and expertly prepared, the hot entrees were flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the dessert station was a dream come true for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Cleanliness and Safety: In these times, cleanliness and safety are paramount, and Mandarin Kitchener did not disappoint. The restaurant maintained high standards of hygiene, with staff frequently sanitizing surfaces and ensuring that all food stations were clean and well-organized. The safety protocols in place made me feel comfortable and secure throughout my visit.

Value for Money: Despite the high quality and variety of food, the prices at Mandarin Kitchener are very reasonable. The buffet offers excellent value for money, especially considering the superior quality of the dishes and the exceptional service. It’s a great place for families, friends, and special occasions.

Overall Experience: My dining experience at Mandarin Kitchener was flawless. The combination of a delightful ambiance, superb service, exceptional food, and great value for money makes it a five-star restaurant in my book. I highly recommend Mandarin Kitchener to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I can’t...

I've been eating at Mandarin with my family for 16 years and the food is excellent here as always. Aside from the food, I love the mocktails and the service

Raymond was my server but there was also Paul whom served my table occasionally. Both Raymond and Paul had outstanding service, always friendly, smiling, humorous, fast, and I wish them all the best

Edit: I came here again for my cousin's birthday. Very good food again as usual, I also saw Raymond again. I had another server named Jack and he was incredible. He's the nicest and friendliest person ever

Here is what I ate:

Drinks water, choco banana monkey mocktail, blueberry lychee fizz Snack croissant (buttered) Soup wonton soup Appetizer chicken dumplings w dumpling sauce Vegetable dish roasted potato, dried garlic green beans, wok fried broccoli & mushroom & corn Seafood dish baked teriyaki salmon, seafood medley, mussel in black bean sauce, breaded torpedo shrimp, salt & pepper shrimp, golden fried fish fillet, teppanyaki fish fillet Meat dish BBQ ribs First main course prime rib (rare) w beef au jus, mashed potatoes w gravy Palate cleanser orange pineapple ice cream w butterscotch topping & M&M's Second main course Shanghai noodles, Hawaiian baked ham, shrimps, General Tao chicken, teriyaki meatball Desserts New York cheesecake, pecan pie Bite sized desserts rice pudding, creme brulee, rice crispy square, sticky...

Probably the best Mandarin I've been to! Despite it being a busy Thanksgiving Weekend, I had a pleasant experience! The place was sufficiently staffed and was clearly running well. Staff were very friendly and attentive - shoutout to my servers Lee, Paulo and Mike. My water glass was never empty and my plates were cleared very efficiently. Food options was always available, I think only the mashed potatoes for the Turkey dinner was unavailable once, but the tray was freshly refilled when I came back after finishing a plate. The chicken gyoza was probably my favourite dish from the day, but the rest of the food was delicious, and didn't taste old at all. The buffet edges were all always clean every time I did a round. There's not a lot of natural lighting inside so it may feel slightly claustrophobic if you're not good with crowds, but the place is well lit and the floors are clean. Finally, not a food related observation, but the koi ponds at the front also looked clean and the fish well cared for. Great place for a two person date or big family gathering.
