Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Kitchener

Lived nearby for 22 years and only now have I finally tried it. This is oone of my greatest regrets.

On a mission for Chinese food after a day of painting this restaurant delivered in so many ways.

Though primarily aimed at takeout service (try and take advantage of the 10% discount for paying cash), there are few tables inside for smaller groups. It is well-maintained and clean. Not a hole-in-the-wall type place but still pretty amazing.

I phoned in my order and it was ready when I arrived 15 minutes later. Was greeted and attended to immediately. A newer employee was being trained and the wonderful woman in charge did a great job of walking her through everything (ensuring all items from the order were in the bags, all extra items such as soy sauce and the like were also present. I was in and out quickly.

The food was wonderful. While we didnt get anything aside from standard north American Chinese food classics, they were all piping hot and properly cooked. Nothing was overly greasy. Nothing was cloyingly sweet either. Even the fried rice was a surprise. Leftovers make excellent meals the next day.

This place is being added to my go-to list...

Tried this place for the first time for takeout and was not impressed. We got the beef rice noodle, satay chicken and jar doo chicken wings.

The beef rice noodle was overly tossed and cooked and caused the noodles to be short little bits rather than strands of rice noodle. It also lacked flavoured and aroma.

The satay chicken, we thought should probably be renamed to chilli chicken cause all we could taste were chilli flakes. There was no other flavour other than that.

The jar doo chicken wings were probably the best dish but the batter was too think and didn’t have enough seasoned salt to elevate the taste. I can’t speak to the crispiness of the batter since it’s takeout but it should have a nice crispiness if you eat it at the restaurant. Also the chicken wings were cooked well.

We have to say that the portions were huge so no complaints there but the food just lacked flavour or was over cooked. Probably will not be returning...

I don't know why I waited. Had heard so many good things about this place for the decade that I've been in the area, but was always too busy going to other Chinese places. After years of searching, I've found a place that makes the Cantonese noodle dish exactly the way I love it. They also do the jar doo wings really well too and there is not a lot of batter on them, and you get quite a few! I was so thrilled and impressed that I can't wait to go again even though I just had the food last week (which lasted me for days btw, since the portions are fantastic!) I did take out so can't comment as much on the servers or actual inside of the restaurant, but the woman at the front was very friendly and all smiles. There were also a bunch of regulars hanging around outside who couldn't tell me enough about their fav dishes or how great this place is. Definitely a new...
