Read moreNilkanth Kathiawadi in Kitchener has been hyped up on Instagram, so I decided to check it out. While the food lived up to expectations, the service and hospitality left much to be desired.
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (above avg)
Service ⭐️ (1 star for the hard-working staff, otherwise Zero)
Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( Traditional design, good music, but too congested and uncomfortable seats)
The restaurant claims to have authentic Kathiawadi cuisine, and the flavours were kinda average.
🥭 Keri No Ras - Bitter and Frozen (Same as Walmart)
🥛 Kadhi and Chhas - Watery
However, the rushed service and lack of hospitality were disappointing. Throughout the meal, there was a sense of urgency, and we were abruptly asked to leave towards the end, which tarnished the experience. It felt disrespectful and unwelcoming. (Sorry to say, but Kutra Jevu Vartan Lagyu.)
While I understand the challenges of managing a new restaurant, Nilkanth Kathiawadi could improve by prioritizing customer service. Balancing efficiency with hospitality is crucial for creating a welcoming atmosphere. (All this Best)
I hope they address these issues soon to fully live up to their...
Read moreGood food, but terrible service. We visited Nilkanth and ordered from the à la carte menu instead of the thali, and the service was noticeably poor because of it. While thali customers were given bowls and timely service, we were not even offered basic serving bowls.

When we ordered khichdi-kadhi afterward, kadhi was put on the table, and khichdi (whole serving bowl) was served directly onto my mother’s plate without even asking.
To make things worse, the server seemed distracted, ignored us while we were talking, and walked away mid-conversation. It honestly felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience just because we didn’t order thali.
Great food deserves equally good service — sadly, this visit left a...
