I hope the restaurant can read this review...I understand a lot of elders seem to love this place lol but I'm honestly puzzled as to why. It was my first time there and absolutely my last. I ordered the filet mignon with shrimps. I asked for a medium-rare cooking. When I received my plate, I was first baffled with the amount of sauce there was on my meat. Never in my life have I seen a filet mignon served in a pool of sauce😵💫 and then my meat (and somehow, the sauce too?!) tasted nothing else than burned. My meat was well done on the borders, then medium-well and then medium in the middle. I mean I checked under the meat and it was black, burnt. A medium-rare absolutely shouldn't look like that. I told the waiter and he was really nice and went to change it right away. But then, as the kitchen has windows, I saw the cook look at me way longer than he should as if he was mad I returned the meat. So while I appreciated the waiter, I did not appreciate the dead stare that came after. I never want to throw food but this was honestly not possible to eat. In my new plate, the cooking was good this time but you can tell the quality of the meat is still very low (but let's face it, the price is reasonable). This time the dressing of the salad was all under my meat and my rice, and let me tell you it's aciiiiiid so now I had a sour taste all over my meat. Rice seems to be cooked in chicken broth with a lot of pepper lol...not really interesting taste. I wished I had read a review like this and avoid this meal. I think if you're going for shrimps only, or chicken, you can be satisfied. But to the restaurant, I must tell you the dressing for the salad is too acid, the sauce for the meat too. It'd be much better also to serve the salad in another plate, and have the sauce on the side for the meat. The rice definitely needs work 🥴 I couldn't finish my plate and I only brought it back home because it's not true I paid over 40$ to throw two plates in the garbage. But absolutely waste of money for me, if I could ask for a refund I...
Read moreI am not one to usually leave bad reviews or complain a lot but this was a horrible experience. Even though we had a reservation (scheduled a week ahead of time), they made us wait OUTSIDE for 48 mins before seating us (this is not counting the time we waited for before our actual reservation..about an extra 15 mins) . They did not even have the courtesy to let us know how long the wait would be or to call us ahead of time and let us know it would take longer to get our tables. We had a reservation for 16 people. Our guests could not all stay because of the long delay. This was supposed to be a surprise birthday party, so we had ballon arrangements and other things to setup once inside (we were told that we could show up 15 mins before our reservation to set everything up and that the tables would already be ready) we had also been told by the hostess we would have the birthday cake on the house instead of having to pay for it and that she had confirmed this with the management, but once it came they did not do so and said they do not have a manager, they only have a boss and will not disturb him for something like this. We still chose to look at the bright side and try to enjoy ourselves. However, once the food arrives at our table, it was horrible, it was not properly cooked and definitely not worth the price, the water tasted really disgusting ( like sewers smell..) and to top it off, we were given 2 broken high chairs for toddlers and when asked to change them, we were handed other broken ones. The bathrooms were disgusting, they had toilet paper all over the floor and the garbage were overflowing, it was as if it had not been cleaned in over a week. The only good thing was our waiter, he was super nice and did his best to accommodate us even though nothing was really going well. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely never go...
Read moreHello, and good evening. I was at Vieux Duluth Restaurant today with some friends. We were served from a woman waitress, as well as a young man. The bread was cold, there was no water on the table. The plates from my friends were taken away suddenly while they were still eating with food still on their plate.
When the time came to pay, I volanteered to pay the bill. I first attempted with my card but I had forgotten the pin, so I told the waiter I was going to pay cash. The bill was $73.35, I gave him $80, he took the $80 and disappeared. I was calling on other waiters for my change. After 10 minutes of waiting for my change, he suddenly appears, so I ask him for my change.
With an uncalled for attitude, he gives me my change and shouts out at me that he will remain unpaid. He said that he served us "for nothing" and that he was "going to pay from his pocket". I asked him for some water, at that point, and he YELLED out, NO I WILL NOT GIVE YOU ANY WATER‼‼ in front of other clients sitting at their tables, looking at him, and looking at us with surprise.
The tips for the waiters in restaurants in Quebec are incorporated in the bill. He gave me back my change in the most disgusting, rude, and humiliating manner that one can imagine.
My friends and I were not happy with the service, and we did not want to give him any more than he is legally entitled to get.
That will certainly be our last visit there, that is for sure. I am so sad to see a restaurant of this calibre have employees that should not be there, or come in contact with the public in general. He was rude, humiliating, and with a temperment, that is not permitted under no circumstance in...
