Review: Beware of Price Gouging at Benny & Co.

My recent experience at Benny & Co. left me deeply disappointed and somewhat outraged by what can only be described as blatant price gouging. Upon ordering a simple meal consisting of a chicken leg with fries, gravy, and coleslaw, I was stunned to find that the total, after tax and tip, amounted to a staggering $24.

Let's break this down: A whole cooked chicken at my local grocery store can be purchased for a mere $12, and an uncooked one for just $14. Even accounting for overhead costs and preparation, it's outrageous that a single chicken leg would command such an exorbitant price.

Furthermore, considering that 10 lbs of potatoes retail for a modest $5.99, the inflated cost of a side of fries adds insult to injury.

Charging customers more than double the price for what amounts to a fraction of the cost of ingredients is not justifiable. It's exploitative and disrespectful to patrons who expect fair pricing for a meal.

Nothing to say about the customer service and how clean the place is. These two elements were perfect. In terms of food however, Benny is nothing amazing compared to other chicken places. All chicken places tend to be the same food wise. Food is very expensive and the quantity isn't enough to fill you (at least for the meal I had). I had a chicken breast meal. Small quantity of fries and chicken. Sauce and salad were tasty but I didn't pay to drink gravy. Also the chicken was really pink on the inside. I am not sure if that's a sign to be worried...

This is the day of the ice storm (Apr 6). 2 young girls were working the order counter and they were wonderful. Excellent team work, a smile on their faces. Line up was extra long and abnormal due to outages so watching 2 young ladies working hard and being very professional while under pressure, is rare. I am in the area only because of the outage but if I do return, I will forego the St Hubert and come to Benny for my meal. Great work ladies! Their manager should give them something special for...
