Went there with my family the other week about right as they opened. We were seated and served very quickly, though we were the only table. First and foremost I got to say their cocktails are delicious! I couldn't even taste the alcohol in my margarita and my mom's tequila sunrise was also very good.
We started with the flaming cheese, and that was the biggest let down of the meal. It was bland, and greasy. I should of followed my gut and just ordered the nachos, but wanted to change things up. I wouldn't recommend the flaming cheese.
Our mains were the chimichanga al gusto and steak tacos. Unfortunately I did not get to try my order of Yucatan tacos because my order was messed up and I received steak tacos as well. The food was delicious none the less, though the side dishes are fairly bland and forgettable. I enjoyed the chimichanga more than the tacos, but still really wished I gotten my Yucatan tacos since I am a huge fan of chorizo.
I'm not sure if I will return to the Riviera Maya since Leamington offers so many choices of Mexican restaurants. While the food puts them as one of the best places in Leamington for Mexican food, the price and portions are dragging them down for me. Three tacos, a cup of rice, and a dollop of refried beans will cost you around $20, compared to other restaurants in town where you can get around seven tacos for the same price and similar quality.
In conclusion try it out if you are craving good Mexican food, enjoy the bar atmosphere, and don't mind paying a bit extra than other locations. Make sure to be clear with your order, and even point to the item on the menu. Finally AVOID THE...
Read moreI went in early for dinner and got my food quickly. I was not offered chips or salsa but the female server/bartender was friendly. Food experience was overshadowed by overzealous attempts to cut costs. Only two people working, tiny servings, hidden extra costs and overpriced. Charged for invisible cheese.
I was asked if I wanted cheese in the chicken fajitas and I said yes but it wasn’t included with the lettuce, beans etc in the teeny pots. I was told that it was already on the chicken but I barely noticed it.
I like to put my own cheese in my own amounts on my own food thank you.
I had to ask for guacamole for the fajitas and for more sour cream because there was an inch and a half string at the bottom of the container. The cook/server returned, annoyed, with one small squirt. I understand it’s a cost but really. He actually huffed when I asked for guacamole.
The chicken was too heavily salted but...
Read more7 of us went for dinner at this new restaurant in Leamington. It’s off the beaten track a bit, and the restaurant isn’t much to look at from the outside. But we wanted Mexican food and had heard this place was good. Well, I’m hear to tell you that the food was excellent - probably the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten, and that’s saying something, as it’s one of my top three favourite cuisines. I had the tacos Carne Assada: the meat was juicy and flavourful. We tried some of Granny’s Salsa (salsa abuelita), and OMG it was good. Other pluses: the inside was very attractively decorated and the whole restaraunt was sparkling clean. The service was just right, welcoming, personalized, efficient. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, in addition to be plentiful and quite decently priced. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will be going back. ...
