Moonlight — Restaurant in Leamington

So my wife and I have traveled to Leamington from Michigan a few times in the past couple of months and had wanted to try this place because we both like Mediterranean food quite a bit. We figured with the ratings it would be a good choice. Wrong! The place doesn’t have a hostess stand. You walk in and your immediately by some tables. With that being said we overlooked that and were seated by a gentleman waving a couple of menus at us. By the way, this was on Saturday June 8 @ 6:30 pm. Place was not busy so that was good. Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted a drink. My wife ordered a margarita and I can’t recall the name of the drink I had but the point is that neither one tasted like there was any alcohol in them. Needless to say we did not order any more. We told her we wanted to start with an order of chicken wings for an appetizer. The wings came out with our meal which was as lousy as the drinks. My wife’s New York strip was supposed to be medium and it was almost well done. Her mashed potatoes were stone cold. I got the mixed grill which had a skewer of shrimp, chicken and beef. Only four shrimp on the skewer, which were over seasoned, and the portions of chicken and beef were not what I thought it would be for $30. 4 small pieces of chicken and beef which were overcooked. The rice that came with it was chewy. The waitress never asked us if everything was ok. It was a very disappointing experience and we will definitely never come back!! I wanted to give this place a higher score than I did, but the service left us wanting. We made reservations via the website, and had to call to confirm as we didn't recieve any notification that the reservations went through. We arrived a little bit early, were seated and given menu's and water. 45 minutes later somebody came to take our order. In the mean time, we had trouble even finding a server who would make eye contact with us.

I understand they were busy, with a large party and it appeared they were under staffed. But the entire staff team seemed completly focused on the large party while all smaller tables seemed to wait. The people sitting behind us and beside us also waited just as long.

We finally managed to flag somebody down(the hostess who sat us) and let them know it had been 45 minutes since we sat down and our order had not been taken.

Order was taken by a very over worked, stressed waitress. We waited another 35 minutes for our salad and appetizer to come(Greek bruschetta). Salad, Appetizer and bread all came at once by a very rushed, stressed server who didn't say two words to us.

Food came by 8:10, we had been there since 6:20. The presentation was good, food was hit and fresh and well seasoned. Fries were sat under the vegetables and meat leaving them wet and soggy soaked and limp. Otherwise the food tasted good and was cooked well, fresh and tasty. But the service and atmosphere left us wanting.

The food was so delicious! The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and classy with touches of warmth. One of the appetizers we ordered was the bruschetta & it was one of the best I've ever had. We ordered the 12 oz steaks and they were done exactly as we ordered them, so mouth watering and the mashed potatoes were perfect! Just by the food alone, we will definitely be back. One of the owners, Sona, took it TWO steps further and came up to our table to ask how everything was and then asked what kind of music we listen to. After I told her I strictly listen to Christian music, she brought over her device, allowed me to search my favorite artist and played his music, Christian music, in the restaurant. I teared up. What an experience they truly provided to us! If I could rate this restaurant higher, I would. When we were finishing up, she brought me a bottle of holy water and we had a heart felt discussion. Phenomenal food, beautiful atmosphere & personal touches like that make this restaurant a true jem in the heart of Leamington & I highly recommend this restaurant...
