During this covid era it’s hard to give harsh remarks about slow or mediocre services especially in restaurants, therefore, I won’t.
Hats off to the older gentleman working. He seemed to be in good control of their situation - I think they had a big rush with many orders because there were 2-4 Uber drivers around while I was waiting my order.
I ordered a dish with two sticks but I was told it’s only one per dish. So I got the lamb&beef with the dish and an extra chicken. With a couple of baklava I paid $42 and I thought it was quite steep but it was my first time there. Btw, I work in the east end and I’ve had Turkish food at least 100 times. AND it was never over 20 dollars without the sweets. My point is not the price but the cost of the extra chicken at $12 plus taxes! Because their meat is worth...well I don’t know at over 10 bucks because it’s not an experience like Schwartz or the Kegs but I could taste the input of love and care.
Now the down side: everything else in that plate. Potatoes the worst of any other Turkish place. Their orange colour barley(I guess it’s what it is because it’s not rice) is way too salty. Hard to disappoint with salads so no points lost there but all other Turkish restaurants served with a whole hot tomato with the dish but all I got was close to a full cold uncooked tomato.
I’m giving a better score due to their convenient location and the lack of competition puts them by default as one of the best in their area.
I care to edit to add this. Their baklava was very good. Rich sweet and abondance of pistachios fresh as if just made. Although I am not a real connaisseur of baklavas I’ve had my share at most places I visit. I think I would not hesitate to get their baklava.
Small note for all others selling baklava. Of course,! You should conduct your businesses as you please but when customers purchase your product with natural sense of trust but when we get an old dry baklava sold at full and some at very unreasonably high prices must understand that customers could be more than just a small...
Read moreWe tried this place for the first time after they moved from Brossard to Longueil and it is the most disappointing $220 we ever spent. The proprietor changed and so did their food. The meat under their Istanbul Mixed Kebab was okay (tender) but it’s not the same taste/anymore. Even their fries changed (I used to get extra portions of their frites because they were SO GOOD).
Their lahmacun wasn’t good and we got so many thinking it was the same :”( Disappointing and will not be returning.
☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️ Review from summer of 2020: We’ve been eating here several times since we discovered this place a few weeks ago, as good as they come for Turkish food (I may be Asian but le mari is Turkish!) and we both enjoy the food here every time. The service though... varies, sometimes you get prompt and efficient service and other times, it takes a while to get any service at all. There is one particular lady in hijab that I find to be the best as she knows what she’s doing, is efficient and provides good service, she should be the manager there! (If that is not...
Read moreWe decided to try this restaurant on a Sunday night on our way to Montreal and were taken care of by Manal. Initially, there was some difficulty in allowing us to sit where we wanted to despite the restaurant being empty. The food, however, made us forget everything. We ordered a plate for two - three skewers and more bulgur in place of salad and fries. The quantity was excellent and the chicken tasted wonderful. The food was accompanied with some fine breads and dips including garlic sauce and tahini. Only shortcoming in the food was the lamb, which could have been better cooked. We were also offered tea and dessert on the house at the end of the meal. Overall, a great experience with beautiful interior decor and Turkish pop music. Wishing the new owners...
