Was excited to try out a new local cafĂ© so we gave it a try. We ordered baked goods a few weeks back, blueberry danish was dry and hard as a rock but the cookies however were good!⊠We werenât really pleased but we decided to give it another go this morning. Ordered a breakfast plate, a parfait and 2 coffees. When got to the table I immediately before even opening my parfait noticed a little hair on the cup, I nicely told the lady who served us, she seemed confused and said sheâd be back, (I thought sheâd be going out back to grab a manager or something) however she just went to the counter got some gloves, opened the parfait and started wiping the inside of the cup⊠she inspected it in front of us for a good minute and said it wasnât there..??? After she had just wiped it off lol. My boyfriend and I both saw it and I believe she had to have as well before wiping it away. She then took it out back to the cooks where we could hear them bantering about how itâs not there saying âget her to show me where the hair is thenâ and asking if we were still there. Then they walked out of the kitchen to look at us, and went to go back in so I stopped the man and asked if he wanted to talk to us( because it seemed like he did from his conversations out back.) When he came over he was incredibly rude making it seem like we were lying and saying there was no hair (obviously because she just wiped it away???) and with a horrible tone said âwell I can make you a new oneâ. I said no because now I just wanted to leave⊠my boyfriend told him that is a terrible way to run a business, all he had to say was âoh yeahâđ. Another lady then came over who was more reasonable and nicely tried to give a new parfait. If thatâs how it would have been resolved from the get go we would have been satisfied. I myself am a server and bartender, I would never make something up like that especially given the fact Iâm pregnant and was nauseous all morning, I just wanted something to eat. And I know itâs an easy mistake, even with hairnets, arm hairs, beard hairs can shed, it can very easily happen⊠I donât like to be made out as a liar when all I wanted was something to eat without a hair in it. I would have loved to support a new local business, and I am not one to write bad reviews⊠However the way we were treated today was awful I felt like I was being made out to be a liar and above all gaslit that there wasnât a hair in my food when there 100% was. Sadly we wonât be returning and will be sure to let family and...
Read moreHas potential but not there yet. We arrived, itâs decor is lovely, the waitress was very new- kept calling two clearly 40 year old women âgirlsâ, did not know the catch of the day nor volunteer the soup of the day.
We asked about the baked brie and what accompanied it only to be told- nothing⊠itâs also a bakery and there was literal baguette in view of our table- I have never heard of a restaurant expecting one to just eat Brie with a fork⊠we passed
Ordered the arancini- no noticeable lobster meat and unseasoned tomato sauce
Also ordered the paella- rice with sauce on it, seafood in it was good but undercooked mussels
House salad, dressed with just oil so really no flavour.
Overall a lovely restaurant that is just opening and the food definitely needs some tweaking but...
Read moreWhat a delightful surprise in this lovely town. The food we had for lunch was excellent. 3 of us had the half & half. Soup & 1/2 sandwich (beef brisket). The bread was super, meat yummy, and sandwich interesting with the slaw on it. The soup of the day was delightful. One of us had the baked Brie with compote - also excellent. We sat outside on a lovely day but inside is also inviting. We were just visiting fortress for the day or we would make this a frequent stop. We did not sample their delicious looking bake goods because we were full. Wait staff very helpful and...
