MY friends were attacked upon leaving by people on behalf of the staff!!!! DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU're not white! #Racist We went there for a friend's birthday and we had a reservation, we were told they dont hold any reservations upon arrival, for a party of 16 they decided us into two corner lounges, it was one of the snow nights so 4 people of our party were late, they wanted to give one of our tables up to someone else, they forced 16 grown men and women around 2 half tables an did not even offer an extra chair , when we asked to be sat together they didnt entertain, i saw the waiters talked to each other and showed each other our tables and after that they disregarded us! very disorganized, took 2 wring orders, didnt give enough coasters, the waiter forgot our drinks orders and we didnt know! she came back after 29 minutes empty handed and told us she lost her notebook, we had a guest with diabetes whose food was so late and wrong at the end she had to share other people's food, we had a prego guest who underwent so much stress for just food! the tables who came after us git their food order quickly and it was most of the things we had ordered! the cook on the meat was wrong, they didnt fill any water for us, we waved so many times at waiters but they showed us their backs and rushed around, they brought our foods such far apart that by the time one table was done eating the other just got their food, It was supposed to be night for a birthday gathering, but ended up being a very annoying night , when we ask for the manager, she didn't even say sorry one time, except" sorry the other tables who cane after you got their foods first"😆I really hate to think that all of this ill-treatment Was because we were not white, but I don't know what else to think when we were the only expats there who pointed that by waiters. it was as if because two people on our list were late for five minutes they were punishing us. Well, I know that I'm never going back there., the fact that for our friends birthday we gathered from all over vancouver on a snowy night and we treated this way really makes me sad. We were not giving any reason., or discounts, or...
Read moreFood is meh and prices are what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub. Nothing spectacular to recommend it.
My low rating stems from my most recent visit:
I ordered a garden wrap and a pepsi. The garden wrap was small and the filling was about 1/3 red onions, 1/2 lettuce, a couple small pieces of pepper and little cucumber. Not great, wouldn't order it again, but whatever, live and learn.
Our server came by midway through the meal and offered refills for our pops. Awesome, attentive servers are the best. Until the bill came and we were charged .99 for the refill on top of the $3 initial charge. No prices were actually listed for non alcoholic beverages on either the food or beverage menus, but $3 is generally what pop at a restaurant costs, so no surprise there. When one person at the table just casually said "oh, refills aren't free then?" The reply was, "No, restaurants might, but pubs don't." Which cool, I guess when you work in the service industry you know general policies that customers might not, but could have done without the attitude.
I'm of the opinion that if you aren't going to list prices and then you're going to offer a refill, you should inform the customer that there is a charge as there is no other way for them to know that charge exists. Yes, it is only 99 cents, but the attitude behind the response when asked killed the whole atmosphere of our meal, and I don't plan on coming back as a result.
Had the refill not been explicitly offered, no one at the table would have gotten one, but the offering of the refill when no pricing is listed and no statement of free refills or 99 cent refills, lead us to believe they were free.
Don't assume people know your policies and then give attitude when they ask about a charge.
In summary. The food I had was not great, with portions on the small side of average. Prices are average. The server I had was attentive, but not overly personable. Refills are not...
Read moreBlack Sheep has been a favourite experience over the many years. Unfortunately, the last experience was challenging at the best. I came with two buddies for a birthday lunch based on information from their website as I have not been there for a couple of years. I had discovered the prices and the specials had changed immensely in that period at the restaurant. I do accept the price increases during that period but what I had found was the quality and quantity of the food had suffered as well. The problem I had encountered was that our original server took our beverage and food order and settled our bill accordingly with a healthy tip and somehow the proper communication to the following server was not communicated and our food came with food roadies and no follow up server. We had no service for at least twenty minutes in terms of refreshing our drinks or anyone asking if our meals were satisfactory as my clubhouse sandwich was dry without any dressing and for $20.00 I had very little fries with the turkey so salty I wondered what is that covering up! After approaching three times the plate clearers to send a server one of us had to go up to the bar and ask for our new server. Now I will mention our new server by the name of Alex and only because she should be managerial status as she took the time to make a bad experience a better experience at the same time I know the restaurant business is going through a rough time but there are those of us particularly regular customers that have supported those businesses through COVID 19 and now with our current economic crisis that deserve the respect and support of issues concerning those very loyal customers. Judging from my experience is whether I will return again certainly after what has happened and we had travelled over forty minutes to be disappointed...
