Okay, to start off, I have to give this place some credit for their efforts in increasing safety during this pandemic. The shop is small, so they only allow two parties of two at a time. Though usually Chinese bakeries use tongs, they're currently offering disposable gloves to all customers. I greatly appreciate these measures, as I've witnessed other bakeries that haven't taken such initiatives (and note, these are added costs for the business!)
My family and I picked up three items from this place: Mango pancake: I was surprised to find sponge cake inside the wrapped crepe! I was expecting only mango and cream, but overall, not too sweet and tasty (4.3 out of 5.0). Egg tarts: they only had the flakey crust, which is my preference but my family prefers cookie crust and this was not available. Overall, the egg tart was less sweet than the typical, and the overall flavor was quite good... But something was slightly off in this department. I can't quite out my finger on it though (4.0 out of 5.0 stars). Matcha mochi bun: I was surprised to find red bean inside as well! The bun itself is similar to that of a pineapple bun's texture (and appearance), with the top being savoury. This was a little odd as the insides were sweet-based flavors. The red bean was in a paste form, and personally too sweet for me. The mochi was a little disappointing, as the quantity was small and the texture could have been chewier. Lastly, thought matcha is in the name, the flavor didn't come through at all (2.0 out of 5.0 stars).

Read moreI used to love this place and would order cakes for all special occasions from here, including my wedding cake. However, after yesterday’s incident with my daughter’s birthday cake, I will never ever go back again. The baker is either color blind or doesn’t care. I wanted a customized cake, so I printed the cake photo in color and gave it to them and they said, “no, problem its easy.” I know they cannot do complicated designs, so I chose the most simplest cake design that any baker could have done, even myself if I had the time. Guess what? It turned out to be something totally different! Colors were all wrong! (See photo) My husband was the one that went to pick it up and when he told them that’s not the right cake, the lady said, “it cannot match the photo exactly but very close to it.” Very disappointed and I had to feed 60 guests. It didn’t even match my daughter’s theme! If you nee a customized cake, I advise you to go someplace else! Seriously, if you cannot make it, just let me know so that I can find another bakery to get it right!
Has anyone tried calling the place to confirm your order? I did and it was funny. I called and asked the lady on the phone to confirm my order for the next day. I didn’t even give her my order number or name and quickly she said, “yes, it will be able” and hung up the phone.
Seriously...
Read moreI'm extremely displeased with the Korean Style cake and strongly discourage anyone who is considering it from ordering from the Markham location. The appearance of this cake IS NOT as advertised (see the images and judge for yourself). For instance, the macaroons are missing, the pink dripping is extremely sloppy, the fruits are cut chunky not thinly sliced, the green buttercream resembles closer to frozen peas than leaves, etc.
Aside from the obvious appearance differences, there is a discrepancy between the online and actual price. The online price for the 8" size is listed as $68, however, when I called the bakery, I was told that this price is outdated and the new price would be $85. I accepted the new price as I was woefully misled by the advertised photo.
Regarding the taste, I ordered the mixed fruit filling. The taste is very similar to their regular fruit cake. If you are choosing between the regular fruit cake or their signature Korean Style cake, choose the regular. It is a fraction of the cost and will save you from...
