I went away for a weekend by myself for a little r&r. Staying over 4 hours from home. Blackbird cafe was recommended by my airbnb hosts as one of their top favorites. The first night I went I ordered the sweet chili and Brie Burger. My first thoughts when I went in to pick up my food was how adorable this place was. I loved the atmosphere. So much character and so cozy. Secondly, the cook (which I also believe may be the owner) and the other staff (which may or may not be the cooks mom, but I'm not positive) were extremely friendly. They seem to take great pride in their food, in their establishment and seem to really appreciate their customers. As I was picking up my burger, I couldn't decide on their house-made desserts so I bought both the pecan pie and the carrot cake. I am a huge foodie and I'm very rarely impressed. I was so absolutely impressed by the food. I really loved that the burger came with salad and a side homemade soup. I'm not one for French fries. The homemade soup was absolutely delicious. The burger was amazing. Portion size was huge. I was blown away by the pecan pie that I ate half of that night, and the rest for breakfast. I was so impressed by the food that I decided to also get dinner from the Blackbird the second night I was in town. This time, I decided on the steak with mushrooms. They had ran out of garlic mashed potatoes, so I opted for the orzo pilaf. Again, staff was extremely friendly. My steak was absolutely cooked to perfection (rare), the mushrooms had a great flavor, steak had a great flavor. The orzo palif was absolutely amazing. There were plenty of seasonal veggies, and all were cooked perfectly, in my opinion (not soft or mushy). I ordered another pecan pie to bring home to my son, and a slice of the coconut cream pie, which I won't taste until I pick up my son. Judging by all the other food, I'm sure it will be just as amazing. The carrot cake, which I had for dessert after my steak, was absolutely amazing. I am sad that this place is not closer to home. I would 100% be a regular. If I'm ever in the area again, I will be back. In fact, I may be back at the airbnb more so to eat the amazing food at the...
Read moreUPDATE- As there is no mechanism to respond to a review reply, I want to direct folks to the response from the business. This takes alot of class and I think leaving the review and the response is more productive than removing it as what happened, happened and our impression was genuinely how we perceived it. I thank the business owner for reaching out and wish them well.
Original review below: 50 year old Military veteran and wife REFUSED SERVICE. Not sure if it was the fact we were on Harleys. But we came in, 3 well dressed (but harley shirts) were seated. Told it would be a while for food. The place was NOT full there were 3 opened tables. So we said, no problem we'll have a quick drink, waiting for another rider. She left. 5 minutes later returned to the table and said "I'm going to have to say no to drinks' we're not that kind of place. We serve food. I said well you just said food waits were long so we ordered drinks" "Yeah I'm going to have to say no". I said so you're asking us to leave? And I got a lot of we'll it would be a long wait and we are a cafe. I assure you we were on over 100k worth of bikes and all 3 of us professionals not undesirables. It is a businesses right to refuse service so we left quietly but it is also my right to report this and let others know what occurred. Never in my life has this happened to me.My wife was almost in tears and it messed up our meet with...
Read moreA 5 year hiatus was much too long but we have returned to the valley for our Aunt's 95th Birthday. My cuz( Susanne) and sister(Kathy) new that we just had to have dinner at the blackbird once again. And it did not disappoint...I had the stuffed chicken, Kath had the steak and Susanne has the pike or was it pickeral( not a fish gal) Lots of ooing and awing with each bite and each sip ;) The waitress( Ugh wish I had a better memory) who actually remembered when we took over the place last visit. This time we were small, but I think a tad bit loud with our raucous laughter and stories. I don't think we reached the 'annoying' stage, but boy was it nice to reconnect, laugh and break bread together. We did decide to share a cple of the desserts and it was another OMG moment...especially the coconut cream pie...all the previous comments were bang on as it is ....heavenly! They also had a cheese cake with blueberry compote and it did not disappoint. All in all a good time was had by all. We have also decided to make this a yearly trek so prepare yourself as we...
