My wife and I went to the Zucchini Blossom market and cafe in Medicine Hat and I was blown away by the food quality, service, decor and prices. The cafe has house made, delicious, savoury and sweet food and drinks brought to your table by friendly, helpful staff. It is comfy, bright, clean, and tastefully decorated inside with local art on the wall from Medicine Hat Medalta clay district. There is also a small market area with ethnic groceries, tea and teapots for sale.

I had the best sandwich that I have ever eaten with their El Gaucho sandwich, which was on a panini that was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with spiced, roast pork, cheddar cheese and mayo with what looked like a broccoli floret chimichuri, that finished it off wonderfully. It was absolutely delicious and delightful. My wife had the roasted apple and parsnip soup (with local parsnips), it was smooth, crunchy with apple and gingery from the parsnips.

To drink I had a lovely green tea latte and my wife had a coffee that she went back for seconds. The other thing that I will mention is the cute plates and cups that everything is served on, that are all handmade pottery. You just don’t see things like this in a normal cafe.

Lastly, as we all know, a cafe is only as good as its baked goods and the Zucchini Blossom didn’t disappoint. We tried the Nanaimo bar cheesecake, which was beautiful to look at and tasted just as good. I couldn’t resist the peanut butter coconut bar, which blew my mind! Everything that we ate was absolutely delicious and the quality reminded me of when we were in Paris.

My wife even took home one of their zucchini, carrot, cranberry muffins for breakfast and she loved it. Medicine Hat is very lucky to have a boutique cafe like this. The food is fresh, thoughtfully made, has healthy, vegetarian options, as well as farm to table options. A true artisan style cafe that I don’t believe I have seen the like in Canada. You can tell when people love their jobs and it’s clear to see here, as it’s...

🌿 Zucchini Blossom Market & Café — absolutely delightful!

My friend and I met here for breakfast today, and we were so impressed! The café is small and cozy, with comfy couches, different seating options, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s bright and full of natural light, surrounded by beautiful green plants and lovely paintings on the walls.

We ordered coffee and the breakfast panini. The coffee was brewed perfectly — rich and aromatic. The panini with pesto, ham, and cheese was simply fantastic! The cheese was creamy, melty, and wonderfully stretchy, while the bread was crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Inside there was also a soft omelet — such a light yet satisfying breakfast.

The atmosphere was very pleasant — the café was quite busy, but not noisy at all. We were served by Lana, who also prepared our panini. A huge compliment to her for her excellent customer service! She was friendly, smiling, and recommended what we should try next time. She also invited us to come back for lunch — and we definitely will!

Everything was served in beautiful clay cups and plates — absolutely stunning and full of charm.

This place has interesting service but great food! One time I didn’t get my coffee but my food. This most recent time I watched my food sit behind the counter. I asked for it but was told the other worker would give it to me and I could sit down. Then the worker asked if I was having a drink as I was walking away. I didn’t answer because I didn’t order one. I heard the worker say to the other one, “it’s not you.” I watched for my food and she started putting whipped cream on my food which I was asked if I wanted at ordering and had said no. I went up to the counter again and I said I didn’t want whipped cream and the worker got frustrated and gave me the cake and gave me fake “have a good day.” She was pissed! She also didn’t want to serve another customer brewed coffee at 3:30 pm because they were closing at 4pm. Now I just laugh off my experiences when I go in. Just don’t get annoyed because they will be rude back. Who wants boring good...

For the money we paid, I was extremely unimpressed. We paid $34 for two "sandwiches", 2 cups of soup, and 2 drinks. For that, I expected a little more than a paper thin sliver of salami and 2 pieces of oversized bread. When we got the sandwiches, we literally laughed to ourselves at what a bad decision it was to eat here. The soup was obviously homemade and very good, but that's where the good ends. I left feeling hungry and ripped off, and that's probably not the vibe that is intended. I mean, look at the picture. $34 for a couple of those?? Yikes.
