UPDATE July 6 2018 We swore off the Little Beaver 2-3 years ago after multiple bad experiences with unfriendly staff and bad food. However, we saw they have a brand new location - so we decided to give it another try!
I came in here with my wife Friday afternoon, it was not very busy - we sat down in the large open diner style space and waited while the waitresses were just serving people at the counter for some reason?
The new tables are too small and it feels like a hospital cafeteria rather than a restaurant. The ambiance was not appealing at all.
Someone with a manager shirt was seemingly doing nothing, standing there watching the staff.
Our waitress carelessly dropped off our menus and slowly walked away, also doing nothing.
After 10 minutes of this my wife and I left without ordering, nobody even noticed us leave.
I never leave restaurants like that, but after spending the 10 minutes reading other bad reviews about the new restaurant, I didn't feel like wasting time on this place.
ORIGINAL review from 2016:
The moment we sat down, our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there.
She was unfriendly & nonchalant.
My sandwich and soup were good, but the waitress didn't offer me a drink when I ordered the combo that came with a drink.
My wife's coffee was luke warm and stale, and when she asked for a new cup, the waitress seemed bothered.
My wife's scrambled eggs were gross, and her mashed potato tasted like re-hydrated instant potato from a box.
When my wife found a hair in her potatoes, the waitress said "I'll tell them."
When she came back with the bill she said "just so you know that wasn't a hair it was piece of the burlap sack the potatoes come in."
As if that is any consolation even if it were true. We are not stupid, we know the difference between a human hair and a piece of burlap fibre.
Even if it were true, are we expected to think it's ok to have pieces of dirty bags in our food?
She didn't take any money off of our bill and even charged us extra for the drink I didn't get.
Last Visited January 2016, probably won't...
Read moreUsed to come here all the time, especially at the old location. I Haven't been here in a while, so maybe my expectations were too high, but it's sure not the same as it used to be!
3 of us arrived today around 4 pm for a late lunch. We ordered Eggs Benedict, grilled cheese with a Caesar salad, and a kids spaghetti. There were only about 6 people in the restaurant so not busy at all.
Our server was very good, prompt and very pleasant, Food Arrived in decent time, so no issues with the service at all.
Unfortunately the same can't be said about the food. Minor issue was mushrooms in the Caesar salad. Wasn't listed on the menu, and while we could have asked what was the in Caesar salad prior to ordering, I would never have thought mushrooms would have been in it. Not a huge issue, we just picked them all out. The grilled cheese was made with processed cheese slices. Again, our mistake for not asking but this grilled cheese was not on the kids menu and for 9 bucks we would thought they'd use real cheese. That was a bigger issue that couldn't be fixed, but they ate it anyway. Personally I would have sent it back but they were starving. Eggs in the eggs Benedict were hard, not runny. Never ever had this issue before as it's kind of important that the eggs be runny in an Eggs Benedict. Again, this was a huge issue as it ruined the dish. I could have sent it back, but again was starving so just ate it anyway. Home fries were undercooked, some of them hard. So the Eggs were over cooked, potatoes under cooked. The kids spaghetti was the best part. However for the kids meal they had no chocolate milk (took the order then came back to let us know), and no jello for dessert (after being offered to the child, and coming back to let us know).
Overall not a good experience and we've had much better meals for 50 bucks.
Very sad for a place that brands themselves as a Small Town Home Cooked meal type of restaurant.
Likely will not be back...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant at the old location in February 2018. It was a pleasant experience overall with very good food. It’s was extremely busy so the service was a little slow which is to be expected. Fast forward to December 2018 we decide to take a road trip and check out their brand new restaurant located just across the street from their old one. Upon our arrival we were excited to see how large the new building appeared as the old one was very cramped. However once inside we were shocked to see what appeared to be only half of the building was useable space. At a glance in looked like the same amount of seats as previous. We had to wait a while for a table, which we figured would not be the case in the new “larger” location. We finally got a table and ordered. It took approximately 30 minutes for our bacon and eggs to appear. The food was good, but not spectacular, and here is where things got really bad. After we were done eating, we waited and waited and waited some more. They offered us more coffee on three separate occasions, which we declined and instead asked for the bill. By this time 25 minutes had passed since we had finished eating, our coats were on, and we were more than ready to go. We tried to get the attention of the waitress that we had asked for the bill, but she was busy folding napkins. After getting dirty looks from the many many people lined up waiting for a table, we finally decided to go up to the counter and attempt to pay. Upon doing this they seemed disturbed that we had no bill to present and inconvenienced that they had to figure out which one was ours. Finally we got the long awaited moment to pay. We did so, and vowed to never return. We are really not sure why their service declined so much from our previous experience. There were plenty of...
