Having eaten here several times I can give a very objective review.
The taste of the food is simply excellent. It's a nice break from Lazeez and the new kid in town for Mediterranean dining in Milton.
Staff are very very friendly and very helpful but please go easy on them as I suspect English is a second language for them and they tend to be from Egypt so they really really know their way around Mediterranean cooking.
Every day of the week they have a very reasonably priced special. I tend to go Thursday's where they have two chicken shawarma wraps for $10.99. A couple can eat for $10.99 and couldn't be any fuller. (See my picture with a sandwich compared to the length of a fork!)j they are just stuffed with ingredients - mainly the most expensive one - chicken!
Sometimes we also have the chicken on the sticks and I counted, she put six and a half ladles of chicken in that large chicken on the sticks! They do not skimp on ingredients. Ask for the sumac spice and they know exactly what you're talkin about - you don't have to explain to them like at other restaurants.
The restaurant is new although the decor has little questionable. For example, they selected a lime green colour for trim which is just kind of irritating. It's like they hit a big box store for the reduced/discounted paint.
It tends to get very loud with noise coming from the preparation of the food and there's always a patron that will crank up the television so you're almost yelling at these poor people to place your order. Being a large cavernous space doesn't help with the echo either. I despise having to raise my voice with these people for them to hear my order other people in line may think I'm yelling at them when I'm not
Although it's called Taza Xpress to agree with another reviewer there is nothing "Xpress" about this restaurant. The food is fantastic though it takes a while to prepare so if you're in a hurry with a quick lunch and meeting, I don't know if this is the place for you.
Overall, very well done I've been here several times and I will continue to go to...
Read moreTried taza express in Milton last week and I must say I was disappointed . I ordered 3 chicken Shawarmas; one extra hot (as I enjoy heat-spice) and 2 chicken shawarmas with no spice as my kiddos can’t handle the heat as I can. I mentioned several times over my simple request (as mentioned) and the chef-employee ensured many times over to me 1 spicy and 2 plain were being made and packaged to take home. We were excited to feast. When I got home to my surprise and disappointment my kids bit into their Shawarmas and they were extra hot. I was quite upset as I made a simple request and was reassured many times over that 2 Shawarmas were plain with no spice; not rocket science right? Needless to say my kids shawarmas were so hot that I had to throw them out; wasted money and a lasting impression. Based on my few bites of my shawarma it not special or authentic in any way compared to the many amazing places I have tried over the years; I would personally pass on going back to this place and move onto the next as there is so much to explore. Perhaps if employees did not cook your food and take personal call at the same time they would get an order...
Read moreWe decided to try this place out on a Friday evening since it opened recently. I'm not sure what was going on but clearly a lot of family and friends were there as the kids were running around in and out of the kitchen.
To order and pay was fairly quick. The staff are friendly but it takes FOREVER to get your food. We must have waited for close to an hr for 1 shawarma dinner, 1 wrap and 2 orders of falafel. I don't know why it took so long but there are a ton of staff in the kitchen working. Most of them looked very confused and they were extremely disorganized. Some people ordered after us but got their food before us. The worst part of this all was the staff is not even familiar with their own menu. We paid for 2 orders of falafel (which means we should get 8 pieces in total according to their menu) but we only received 2 pieces. On top of that, the pita bread for the wrapper was crumbling before I even started to eat it.
I'm shocked that there's so many 5 star reviews. Needless to say, we will not be coming back to this place again. Very...
