Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Minden Hills

Stopped at the drive through at around 7:20 pm Aug. 10/22. First off, the big menu is situated at the order booth, and the smaller hamburger menu is situated at the waiting area. It would have helped, if we could have seen the whole menu before we had to order. The sun was in a bad position and we couldn't see the drinks portion of the big menu either. The order taker had to wait a few minutes while we made our selections. There were four of us. We placed our orders and had to change some of them. Ice cream was not available. We ordered three combos and other food. The order taker tried to be patient but she failed. There were cars in front of us at all times.

Our order came to $53.14. At no time, did she repeat our order back to us. This would have helped.

We picked up our order and headed on down the highway. That is when we found we were missing a few items! So we turned around.

I took our food back in and the gentleman behind the order counter was very helpful. Since we didn't receive a receipt, I told him the cost of our food. This helped greatly. We went over the order and found we were missing two fry orders and not on the receipt, an onion ring order. He took the one cold fry order back and dumped it. He then re-ordered the 3 fries and threw in the onion rings for free. This is customer service.

I wish we had seen on a screen OR heard our order repeated back to us. This would have saved us a lot of time. We were heading to the Kinmount theater to see "Top Gun" at 8:00. We ended up being 6 minutes late. So we canceled our plans.

On the #1 burger my son ordered, he was disappointed to find it didn't come with ketchup or mustard. I don't know if this is normal.

Odd there was a QR code, beside the pick up window, but you are not given a receipt to enter the questionnaire. WHY?

If there was a choice to put zero stars I would. Ordered a Tropical Blizzard - an item I have been ordering for years - so it's not a surprise the teenager behind the register had no idea what it was. Simple; pecan, coconut and banana. They ring it in as a Hawaiian - which is fine but I can't have that because I'm allergic to pineapple. A small Blizzard came to over $7.00. When asked why, I was told I had to pay extra for the pecans AND the banana....why the banana you ask when the Hawaiian ALREADY comes with it? Yes, I have no idea either. The pecans are justifiable.

Essentially I was being charged the price of a blizzard with simply vanilla ice cream and coconut in it. Fair? I think not.

After asking to speak with the manager, to which the answer was "she's out probably doing some running around". So the inmates (the 4 teenagers working) get to run the asylum? Good business practice.

Bottom line, the customer service was deplorable, the teenager at the register (apparently he said it was his family's business) needs to learn how to deal with customers properly instead of getting defensive which made him impossible to speak with. I was told to do him a favor and "never come back". In the end I didn't want the Blizzard and just wanted my money back. The dirty looks from the other teens behind the counter sealed the deal. Absolutely atrocious. Only giving One star because I can’t give 0!!!!! Out of all the times I’ve stopped here, I’ve had a good burger once. Just stopped tonight too. Ordered a triple burger with fries and onion rings, and some ice tea BS, and a cheeseburger. To start with. They didn’t give me the right burger (this is a common theme at this place and is completely unacceptable) they gave me a double burger. The burger was not warm in the slightest, the bun was stale (I didn’t even know it was legal to serve stale buns) and it had a piece of hair in it. The fries were again cold, and mushy. Almost as if someone else had placed an order, they messed it up, and served it to the next person who ordered something similar. The onion rings were okay. Not really warm but still crispy, and the drink tasted old. Or as of it had a bunch of stuff mixed it, i’m not sure, but it did not taste correct. Secondly. The cheeseburger was yet again, not warm and the bun was also stale. This is unacceptable behaviour from a franchise, and quite frankly some things seem like they border on a health and safety violation.
