I went here last weekend with my girlfriend and my buddy and we all absolutely loved this place! Truly a hidden gem in Mississauga! I had 4 tacos, 2 of which were the Quesabirria and I had 1 carnitas and 1 carne asada. These were probably the best tacos I've ever had honestly. The Quesabirria were nice and juicy and crispy as well and the soup was so flavorful as well. The carne asada was delicious with the meat grilled to perfection. The carnitas taco was probably my favorite with the meat being absolutely melt in your mouth tender, it was just too good. My girlfriend had the Al pastor taco too which was also delicious. We all also had their Horchata drink which tasted amazing with that great cinnamon taste!

EDIT: I definitely want to make sure that I come back to edit my review for this amazing place! I have to say honestly that it is now a place that my girlfriend, my buddy and I have made a routine place that we try to visit almost every other weekend if we are able to. The hospitality from the owner Amy along with her parents is truly heartwarming and unbelievable how friendly and how welcoming they are to us both before, during and after our visits. We are always so excited to come back every time to try all of their new specials and coming here really does make our day every time with how much we look forward to visiting every single time and we can say that from the heart. Visiting La Patrona makes us feel like we honestly don't even need to visit Mexico at all because we know we can get the most authentic and traditional Mexican food outside of Mexico right here at this amazing gem! Here are some of the new items that we've tried here since my original review:

The Empanada with Chicharron is to die for. Crispy crust on the outside goes so well with the juicy and tender chicharron on the inside with a delicious marinade that has a nice little kick to it. Topped with cheese, sour cream and pickled onions it's arguably my favorite item on the menu.

Their chocolate Mole is simply unique and amazing. The sauce has a slightly spicy kick to it with the chilies added to the mix and you get a nice subtle chocolatey and nutty taste to it. It goes very nicely with the chicken and it's great to make a taco with the freshly made tortillas and delicious black beans that they give you. Really something unique and a must try!!

Tacos Dorados were another special that Amy told us to try with their Sopa de Fideo. The crunchy tortillas with the tender beef were so delicious and went great with the soup they were served with which had a delicious tomato broth and nice lime taste to it.

I recently tried their Chorizo tacos and tacos de lengua. My first time trying tongue tacos and honestly I was so glad it was from here because the meat was so buttery tender and flavorful that you just wanted to savor every bite of. The Chorizo was so delicious and nicely spiced as well and definitely not too salty like some other places I've been to. This place does it right.

Even though I've mentioned it before I just have to say again that when you come here you have to get their Horchata. So nice with the milky and especially cinnamon taste to it that you just don't want your glass to ever go empty. Always a great compliment to the meal.

Honestly I am running out of words to say for this place other than it's gotta be one of the most authentic and traditional restaurants around and definitely the top restaurant when it comes to Mexican food. This place is really a gem and it's all because the food is always made with passion and with love from the owners. They always care to spend time talking with us and to see how we're doing when we come by and when we leave as well and it truly makes you feel lucky to have found such a special restaurant. We see all the time how much care and hard work the owners put into their food every time and we are truly thankful to visit here every time!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much...

I always wanted to try traditional, authentic Mexican street tacos so I took my sister along to this little stand in the corner of a flea market. I’m not usually a fan of beef tripe but wanted to try how they cooked it. We asked if they had any tripe tacos but they didn’t but if we wanted we could try Menudo (Mexican soup with cow’s stomach).

We didn’t even see that on the small menu. It was a huge serving so the friendly server behind the counter asked if we would like it in two bowls. It came with a couple of slices of lime on the side. The pieces of tripe were huge and there were a lot of pieces in each bowl. The broth was light, bright and flavourful and the tripe was very soft. I could only eat a small amount knowing I still had a couple of tacos to eat.

We ended up getting the Lengua (tongue) and Carnitas (pulled pork) tacos (1 for $6 or 4 for $20). These simple tacos were full of meat and topped with fresh cilantro, raw onions and lime slices on the side. The lengua was tender and the little bursts of fat were so flavourful in both tacos. They came with 2 sauces, one green (mild) and one red (spicy). To complete the meal we also had Mexican tamarind sodas which were not too sweet.

I love these little ‘mom & pop’ food places. This is where families and friends gather, eat, and socialize to feel like they...

Incredible Mexican food, owned and operated by a sweet family - it is consistently extremely busy and the food itself is incredible.

I was assisted by Amy, and she suggested a mixed plate with 2 tacos, 2 sopas, and 2 quesadillas. The food came with lime wedges, hot sauce, and it was to die for. The lengua taco was the standout item for me, as well as the steak sopa.

Amy also suggested getting the horchata and it was such a delicious accompaniment to my lunch. The fact that all of this food and the drink came to $25 with taxes is such a treat.

I'll definitely be coming back to eat more of their items! What a lovely experience, I hope they can continue to succeed like this and build a full-service restaurant as a family! There is such a need for an incredible home-cooked Mexican restaurant like this in...
