Café Central — Restaurant in Montreal

Upon arriving at the venue, I was immediately approached by one of the owners, who asked me to make a purchase. I was late for an hour-long meeting and declined but assured him it was not an issue.

After my meeting, the other owner confronted me about not having bought anything during my hour there. I offered to pay for a $2 coffee, as I had done the day before, but she refused and threatened to call the police, claiming I wasn’t spending enough for my use of the space. This exchange occurred around 10 AM, and she later insisted that it was about respect rather than money.

The lack of diversity among the crowd was evident, which affected the dynamics; other white customers sided with the owners, making the situation more challenging for me. They misrepresented the facts, claiming I was being disrespectful when I offered to pay after our second confrontation. I made it clear that I had no issues complying with their requests, yet they attempted to portray me as a problem and a squatter, despite my previous positive experience at the venue.

Because I was move to Angrignon couple days , these days are their own mocha pot brewed coffee. The nearest coffee I found was next to monk subway Station, 20 minutes walk, and it was sunny today! The cafe was good! The green plants inside are more attractive! It's still big in there! There is also a special section for children. The atmosphere is also comfortable to study. Or sit by the window and watch people go by. Cool! They also have a magic menu for the next time ! I’d like to try espresso...

Such a cute, quaint little café/brunch spot (also conveniently close to our Airbnb). Unassuming, but fantastic in food and service. They easily and happily accommodated gluten-free/lactose-free needs, and the food in general was very good, great coffee, all at exceptional prices. We loved the music, dècor and overall cheerful vibe.

Edited to add: we loved this place so much we came back a second morning. The Croissant Déjeuner All-Dressed is possibly the best breakfast sandwich...
