So I've been eating Dilallo Burger for a while now as my fast food go-to with an occasional order at the LaSalle Coq-O-Bec and my 3rd choice Roasters BBQ and I decided to try something new because even the best things in the world get old. I really wish I hadnt. I am feeling the saying now "Dont fix what aint broken". I ordered from here because their menu on facebook claims Radio Energie 94.3 FM once said "best poutine in montreal" hahahahahaha.. what a joke. That cant be true, or they were paid to say it, or someone at radio energie who probably got fired was an clueless foodie.
The chicken poutine was generic tasting, mainly due to the sauce. If you've ever tried the old poutine from Valentine in the 1990s, known for their sugary/canned sauce, this tasted just like it. The fries were acceptable as "nothing special", probably generic frozen fries. Some of them were under-cooked and a bit hard in the center. The chicken in the poutine seemed like it would be good by itself even without sauce and it wasnt dry at all, more like fresh and juicy, maybe that is where they shine. The cheese curds were fine and seemed fresh enough.
The burger, called "Cheese Normand" was I think the worst burger I've ever had in my life including the ones I make real quick at home with leftovers. Not only is the meat patty less than or literally a centimeter thick, stuck in the middle of a bunch of overwhelming ingredients like pickles, hot peppers, bacon, lettuce, tomato slice, onions and a ton of generic tasting mayonnaise/sauce (it had a light red hue I think its spicy mayo right out of a bottle). I literally could not taste any meat at all in this burger. It was more like biting into an onion sandwich with side flavoring. The first flavor I got was onion, then pickle, then hot pepper and then the sauce. Absolutely terrible. It might've worked if the patty was at least an inch thick and the meat had a powerful well seasoned flavor that worked with the ingredients. And to top it all off, this burger had no cheese in it. WTF? If it did, I couldnt tell. How can you call something "Cheese Normand" and not load it up with extra cheese? I didnt even want to finish it but I hate to waste money and I was hungry so I did anyway.
The receptionist who was working at 2:30 pm on 2019/7/05: This guy gave me the best damn customer service I ever heard on a phone. He was well-spoken, cordial, actually could tell he was making an effort at his job. Somebody needs to snatch him up and give him a job with a future.
Payment: These jokers dont even take credit card. Had to run back up to get my debit card. I've never ordered from anywhere in my life that ended up not taking credit card. They claim its because of fraud. Who the hell orders food at their home address with a stolen credit card? No...
Read moreWe’ve been eating at Casse-Croute Normand regularly (once per week) for the past 10 years. For the most part we haven’t had any issues, until recently.
100% of the time we ask for our fries well done. A few weeks ago we received our order and the fries were the farthest thing from well done; they were under cooked, with some fries still a bit hard. After a few bites, the food got tossed in the garbage. The following week I went to pick up an order and informed the lady of the issues we had, hoping she would advise the staff to be mindful of these requests. Worth noting that our pickup order was cooked perfectly.
Our next 2 orders, both on delivery, once again showed up with under cooked fries, despite our request for well done. Both orders got tossed in the garbage and we haven’t ordered from there since.
I’m afraid to see what the fries look like when you don’t ask for well done, they must be raw :(
We miss our weekly “fix” but we’re tired of paying for food only to...
Read moreThis place is a classic! Owner Ali took the time to walk me through the entire menu — super friendly and amazing and fast service. Claude and Robin were such cool characters too. The food was yummy!
Next time, I’d skip the big burger and go for two smaller ones — about the same price but better value. We got the meal with poutine (options of all types of freshly made sauces) and upsized it to add sausage; I had expected it to be grilled, but it turned out to be plain boiled.
When in Montreal, we love finding unusual and unique gems like this. All in all, a pretty inexpensive spot with a wonderfully old-school charm. Perfect for a...
