The owner of this restaurant has a temper. Beware! His name is Tommy (Tuan) and he yelled at my elderly parents today! They entered the restaurant and a server pointed them to their table, but the server wasn't clear and did not ask my parents to wait while the table was being prepared, so my parents sat down. That's when Tommy approached my parents and rudely said "Why are you sitting down? The table is not ready." My Father responded politely "There's no need for that kind of tone, you can ask us nicely to wait." Tommy then pointed to the door and yelled "Then get out!" Basically kicking my parents and their friends out of the restaurant. This happened while there were other customers in the restaurant! My parents were very embarrassed while leaving. Since when is it okay to yell at customers? This was a simple misunderstanding that could have be resolved without any rudeness or yelling. My parents have eaten at this restaurant before, and their friends who introduced them to this place have eaten there many times. Now we will never eat here again and our friends will do the same. Very surprising to see this kind of behavior from the OWNER of the restaurant. He must not be concerned about having enough customers to engage with customers this way. Completely...
I was invited to this authentic Asian restaurant From what I can deduce the word authentic really means in anorexic quantities. Parking is not very easy in this area where we combine construction and ridiculous development of the city for street corners. The welcome was quick and designation for the table. Let's talk about food now, I had a noodle dish with grilled pork. Seriously the noodle dish is not even enough for my hunger so much that there was little, the pork was ok but a lot of fat at least a quarter easily, and for the herbs and there were a lot of them?!?! $23 for that? I've already eaten $23 for better than that My friend had taken E10 Long Nuong, his dish was even smaller with a sausage (black pudding) for $30 (a sausage is not worth $30)
In any case the price and abundance ratio do not go hand in hand, the taste is not more special than another restaurant of the kind. Personally I have already eaten better for a fraction of the price, obviously I'm not going back to eat there. The dessert che 3 mau (3 color dessert) is a joke, the glass is almost full of finely crushed ice that leaves little garnish that it is supposed to have, I did not really see the 3 colors. The only color I saw is ice (see photo as proof) The place is surprising how noisy it is, I don't know if people talk loudly but very unpleasant, you leave with a guaranteed headache
And for those who like this place I have nothing against it, continue to go there and not hold my comments. Everyone has their own tastes...
Read moreWent to Restaurant Ho Guom while in Montreal for a visit. We arrived around 8:45 p.m. with the posted closing at 9:30 p.m.
We quickly placed our order & I got to try a traditional Vietnamese dish called bun oc cha muc which is snails and fried squid patty in a tomato based broth with vermicelli. I've never seen this on any menu in the GTA and let me tell you, I'm now on the hunt. The broth was delicious with a hint of sour, the snails and patties were plentiful. We also ordered spring rolls and Vietnamese beef salad & both were delicious. I loved the acidity of the salad & that there were tons of red onions.
Even though they close at 9:30 p.m., I never felt rushed. In fact, the gentleman who mainly served us told me to take my time.
Great food and great service! I would definitely go back as well as recommend this...
