Sak’s isn’t just making sandwiches — they’re creating moments of pure, mouthwatering clarity. I had the lemongrass beef sandwich and honestly, it stopped me in my tracks. Think banh mi, but evolved. The beef? Perfectly marinated, tender, packed with bold lemongrass flavour that hits in all the right ways. The bread? Toasted just enough to crackle without crumbling. The pickled veg, herbs, and sauces? Balanced to the point of art. It’s like someone took a classic and said, “Let’s make it unforgettable.” And they did. And yes — the atmosphere matched the food. Cozy, warm, and welcoming. It felt like the kind of place where you can slow down, savour every bite, and actually enjoy your lunch break. This sandwich didn’t just satisfy hunger — it redefined it. Sak’s, you’ve officially raised the bar. I’ll be dreaming about this one.

I was looking to have a smoothie and this place popped out. Cosy, local place, friendly staff, good menu options. Fresh fruit, sugar options (50%, less or regular). The beef- lemongrass sandwich was delicious very interesting flavor sauce. It was served with peculiar chips (taro) I believe of what I read. However, the small shrimp wonton soup (8.50$ with 4 wonton) was ordinary and lacked umami. If you're in the area and hungry it's worth to give it a try. The total of my order for 1 person was 30$ including tip.

Fresh food and clean place. Staff is very friendly. I just had the sandwich here and it was fresh and tasty. Tried both the beef citronella and the pulled pork with tamarind sauce. It's a little different from Vietnamese sandwiches but also different. The buns are different and the sauces are different. If you are in the area, don't hesitate, this is good quality food.

Thanks to the staff's recommendations, I got to try the lemongrass beef sandwich, a tofu and braised eggplant sandwich with a fresh mango smoothie with tapioca.

The bread was fresh and crispy, packed to the brim with julienned beets, carrots, cilantro, daikon. My tofu and eggplant were well marinated and not overly salted or mushy. I was really surprised by how flavourful the meal was. The taro chips have great crunchy texture but are a bit oily, could use a bit of salt. The fresh mango smoothie was amazing and so refreshing. I saw avocado on the menu, I will have to try next time!

My boyfriend liked his lemongrass beef but he mentioned it was a bit on the pricier side. IMO you pay almost the same buying McDonalds, but this is local and fresh so I definitely felt I got my value's worth.

Also I like how simple the graphic design is; the menus, takeout fliers, lettering in the restaurant. I wish they had a quieter terrace like in the back of something though. The front is one of the busiest parts of Saint Michel street.

A new neighbourhood...

3 on 3, I'm convinced! I used to have to go to China town for that kind of treat. No more. The citronella chicken or beef will floor you. As a sandwich to go (right next to the St-Michel métro, it make the perfect commute snack, except for the glare of envy) or on rice or vermicelli the food won't disappoint. The portions are reasonable, which is nice for people cough, cough that just empty it regardless of the amount. The staff is super nice, always up for a recommendation.

If you ever stock at St-Michel métro and have a few minutes to kill, give it a shot, I'm sure that the next time you go yo won't...
