It is in Bengali culture to smile and say "everything is good" even if it's bad. How many of you as guests, arrived at an event happy, and heard the owner complaining about the client paying him for less headcount? How does a guest eat food after hearing that? Should guest just drop the plate and leave the event? I wish I could say "sorry, I can't eat this food", that would create a scene, that looks bad for the host. I can't even deny an invite knowing the food is coming from Cafe Royal. This place is lucky to have a business because the Bengali community is loving and forgiving.
