AVOID AT ALL COST Our party of 4, decided to wait a month before writing this review to ensure emotions were kept in check.

We were a party of 4 travelling from Ottawa looking for a place to eat after a long day of hiking in Lion's head. As soon as we arrived we were rudely and vigorously asked from a screen door to form a line outside. We didn't say a word considering we were understanding of health regulations. Once we got in, we got greeted like if we were cattle. Like children we needed an escort from staff members just to head to the bathroom. Once again, due to health concerns we didn't say a word. Once on the lawn area we were asked to take a seat in at the only table under the sun while two additional tables in the shade were also available. We asked to be seated under the shade. They felt contradicted and responded that they would grant us this request if we insisted which we did very politely. They reluctantly and rudely accepted. The owner with a distinctly angry and aggravated looking grin told us that this was not a place where patrons could only drink and that food ordering was required,. We were already in agreeance to that since we established clearly that we came to eat. His manners were already extremely poor and now so was his assumption abilities.

Once we got seated, the waitress threw the menus at us like pigeons at a wedding. One of us asked when was the kitchen closing which for reasons unknown, they took as an insult to their opening hours. The owner came back to us and started describing idiotic restaurant policies that had 0 to do with our intents. We asked why the staff and himself was rude to us to which got us kicked out.

On our way out we recommended patrons waiting to be seated to leave this place and find a more welcoming restaurant.

Do yourself a favor, never, ever conduct business with these lunatic inbreds and take your...

Extremely slow - not worth the wait

Reserved a table and visited the Lions ahead Inn for dinner with 4 adults and 6 children which turned out to be a mistake.

It started well. The restaurant was busy when we entered and the server was friendly. Drinks orders were taken and arrived fairly quickly

Then the slow service started. From arriving at the restaurant and all having a main course and leaving straight after eating took 2 hours 20 minutes. Tables all around us had their orders taken before us despite arrriving after us. After waiting patiently we went to find the server to have our order taken.

People arrived at other tables, had their meal and left before we had our food served.

A lady sitting on the table opposite with her partner said it was a ridiculously long wait for us and felt embarrassed that we had to wait for so long and was impressed at how patient our children were being, kindly offering her pack of cards for our children to play with.

Our server was clearly embarrassed about about how long the food was taking and apologised despite it not being within her control. At the end of the meal we complained to the owner Monty about how slow our experience was. Monty blamed the slowness on the fact that one of our group had ordered cannelloni which if we had known in advance we would not have ordered.

Monty, the owner was completely unapologetic, coming across as arrogant and as someone who just professionally fobs off complaints on a daily basis. Our advice is that if you are passing through the area avoid the Lions Head Inn, it is not worth waiting such a long time for ordinary food.

Also worth noting that on Trip Advisor the Lions Head Inn is marked as ‘permanently closed’, probably so Monty and the Lions Head Inn can avoid and arrogantly ignore feedback which we have unfortunately had...

Can't recommend. A friend and I stopped in for dinner while staying in Lions Head for my 40th birthday. Sun was out so we asked to sit outside.. staff said it was too wet. It had rained a bit earlier in the day but it had dried up. We didn't argue but ended up getting takeout because the inside seating was too hot and stuffy and we just weren't feeling it. We ordered the fish sandwich and Sheppards pie and everything was delicious. Unfortunately, we both woke up extremely sick in the middle of the night. The only thing we had both had to eat over the past while was the Sheppards pie so I called to let the pub know the next day. The individual who answered talked over me, tried to "educate" me on food poisening and gave me 900 reasons why it couldn't have been from the pie (including wild claims like "we changed the plating and ALL of the staff had the sheppards pie yesterday - something none of the staff mentioned to us - or that he made 50 fresh in the morning and also had it for dinner). It was a bit ridiculous because I was nice when I called and didn't blame the pub I just said I wanted to let them know just in case since it was the only thing we both had. I wasn't upset and didn't want anything in return. The reaction was extremely defensive. I wouldn't go...

A quick walk from the business area of Lions Head or the waterfront, this English style pub is a friendly, comfortable spot for some cold local beers and great beyond pub food. I'm so glad I stopped in here for lunch on a hot late summer day. Our wait staff greeted us with cold water and a smile. We had a few pints of local beer (very inexpensive and tasty) and some amazing sandwiches. Fresh perch is also on the menu in both appetizers and mains. Beautiful little patio overlooking the street and a healthy apple tree. The atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly we quickly found ourselves making new friends from across Ontario while enjoying our brews and food on the patio.

2 couples dropped in for a pint whilst visiting the area. We sat outside in the lovely weather. Waitress service was good. We were surprised though how expensive the beer was.$13..$12.. and $11 each.the wine though was reasonably priced at $12...see photo of our receipt.. There was no drinks menu according to the waitress so we did not realise how high the prices were. If we had known we would have only stopped in for 1.. Although the prices were high we did enjoy the drinks.service and location but due to the price I doubt we would return there. However we still tipped the waitress as she did a great job on a busy long weekend.

Lion's Head Inn and Restaurant was my favourite dining out experience of the summer. We ate here 3 times and found each time just as good as the last. They did an excellent job on Covid measures. Our Food was delicious and well prepared each time. The service was excellent and very friendly. I highly recommend the mini Yorkies, Lamb Sliders, Lighthouse Salad, Shepherd's pie, Farmers Penne. I want to go back and try some of the other wonderful items on the menu. Maybe that slice of cheesecake I never had room for.
