Was looking for an authentic Nanaimo bar in Nanaimo! My top 3 go-to's in Nanaimo were all closed on a Monday when they are supposed to be open per their hours, what can you do. Did a bit of searching and one site gave an honorable mention to Serious Coffee. Ordered a sweetheart latte (vanilla and cinnamon), meant to get the black forest, also had a Nanaimo bar of course and a carrot pineapple loaf frosted. Lets start with the good. The Carrot pineapple loaf was incredible. Didn't need the icing as the loaf itself was dense yet moist. Chock full of raisins, carrot but not a whole lot of pineapple. Amazing. The nanaimo bar left something to be desired. The bottom (coconut) layer was extremely dense, very coconuty. The custard was more grainy than smooth and silky and the top chocolate layer was the usual, chocolatey goodness. The latte was very subtly flavoured, I feel like the black forest would have been much more delicious. I won't be back as I've had better Nanaimo bars and coffee elsewhere, but like the site I read, honorable mention is about accurate. If everything else is closed this place will suffice. All 3 items costed $15 and change. Not bad in this...
Read moreI had ordered an iced matcha latte sweetened and a jalapeño bagel. The bagel was good but the matcha latte was the worst i’ve ever had. It just tasted like milk as if there was no matcha. I asked the barista with short red hair if she could redo it and she was like “okay” she asked the other barista “how much matcha powder do you put” and she said 4 spoons.Although it was remade , it tasted exactly the same and I mentioned it to her and she was giving me attitude she said “i can’t put anymore i would have to charge you”. That’s pretty crazy for a $7 matcha that just tastes like milk. Customer service really needs to be a priority because essentially they are first and I wouldn’t have had anything to complain if it was done properly in the first place just being respectful about would...
Read moreWasn’t aware of rules with service dogs. I dont leave my house often due to personal reasons, today I went in to grab a tea with my service dog. The manager or perhaps owner, yelled at me to get our repeatedly, I obviously got out quick but would’ve got out if she would’ve remained calm and spoke kindly to me as well. After I received my tea outside, I apologized and said I didn’t know they had rules against service dogs to one of the baristas, and as I was walking away towards the pizza store the owner chased me down the street yelling at me and making me feel extremely uncomfortable. This caused a bad breakdown because of issues I struggle with (why I have a service dog). Extremely rude and chaotic, I would not suggest going here. No consideration towards people with...
