Thursday November 30, 2023 – Boston Pizza
I would like to start off by saying that I work in the foodservice industry as a waitress and have for many years, so I am very compassionate towards servers and restaurant staff because I can honestly appreciate the level of work that goes into working in this industry.
Here is where the BUT comes in… I went to Boston Pizza today for lunch as I was very excited to get my old favourites (I worked at a BP for a couple of years many moons ago). For additional context and as you can see in my photos, the restaurant was empty…I counted 5 tables and 3 servers, plus a manager (leaving people waiting at the front for service for longer than necessary, in my opinion). The server took my order and said it’ll be about 17 minutes. I ordered their Buffalo Chicken Fingers and a Garden Salad. Simple right!?! Well, I went back in after about 15 minutes and noticed that on my receipt they ordered chicken wings NOT chicken fingers…mistakes happen…I get it.
Then I was told that it would be 5 minutes to correct the order. I asked the server (a different one) if there was a cost difference and she said “Yeah, but its only like two dollars so no big deal”. I replied, “two dollars in your favour or mine?”. She then said, “Oh, yeah I guess we owe you money back” and then walked away with out actually reimbursing me for THEIR mistake.
I waited another 12 minutes playing pee-a-boo with a small child. I was getting a little irritated as I had to get back to work, I stood up at the front desk (again) and someone finally came over and said “Oh, are you still waiting for your chicken fingers?” to which I replied, “yes, and now I am late for work”. This server then said “oh yeah, I am always late for work”. So off she went and came back with the correct item but missing the dipping sauce I ordered. So again, I waited. No real apologies happened, and I STILL NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK. By the time I remembered about the money, because I was so disappointed in this entire experience, I was in my car and couldn’t be bothered to wait another 10 minutes for someone to give me my money back.
Needless to say, this is just wrong. What happened to customer service???? Especially when the restaurant was EMPTY. And now, stealing money from your customers??? This is not the first time that I have had bad service here, but I am all about second and third chances. I guess they do not care to keep their customers coming back. Do you know that it costs more to gain customers than to keep them? This is a very easy marketing principle. Poor management explains this nonsense. In this economy, people just cannot afford to treat themselves everyday and when the experience is horrible…why would anyone want to spend their hard-earned money in a place that obviously doesn’t care about their customers.
If this happened in our restaurant, our owner would be livid and rightly so!!!
Thanks for listening! If you don't know what is going wrong then you can...
Read moreFirst of all we were told we needed to show ID to even sit on the bar side and the hostess was rude looking us up and down (we are all in our 30’s). Let me preface this with the fact that we are originally from here, and have lived in Ontario for years. We came back for the holidays to visit family and friends.
We came a few days ago to have a few drinks and the bartender Jess took 30 minutes to serve us our drinks (while looking at a book to ensure it was accurate). There was only one other table there. The drink was made wrong, and she didn’t ask us for ID? She was also unfriendly and left the bar for a long time before even checking on us. Almost every second table was dirty and plates/cups left everywhere.
The second time we were there on the bar side for food and drinks and our waitress was rude, and probably the worst service I’ve ever received. I’ve worked in the service industry for years and couldn’t believe they let her on the floor. She had a gap in her teeth, and puffy wavy hair. She was counting our drinks, and everytime we ordered a drink she would repeat our order and made sure she was counting them between us. She kept asking one of my friends if he was having one also (not sure why). She wouldn’t bring them for 15-20 minutes. None of us were driving, and she was nothing but rude when she would talk. So unfriendly, and like she didn’t even want to be there. Let alone serve us.
After we were done she brought the bill, and I tipped her. I saw her go straight to the bartender to talk about the fact that I probably didn’t tip her more. She’s lucky I tipped her at all.
She was unkind, a horrible waitress and I’m surprised she was hired to work there. If I owned this place she definitely would not be in the front of house.
So glad I don’t live here and this is the only sit down restaurant to actually go and eat/drink with friends.
I’ll add that the bartender also gave us dirty looks when she was talking about our bill with the receipt in her hands. It felt unwelcoming and I usually love Boston pizza. Definitely would not recommend, travel to the city if you want a decent place to...
Read moreIt's not a bad experience, but not one I would give higher ratings based on the noise level, serving quality and size compared with cost. The menu has a large variety of food dishes from pizza to wings and pasta, etc. with a lunch menu. We chose our selections from the lunch menu. This place is a great location for a sports bar, gatherings with friends, and family. The noise level is high, so be warned it's not the best place for a quiet, intimate dinner or if you are sensitive to noise. I really liked our server, but I did not get his name. He was kind, attentive, and checked in frequently. He was well informed about the menu when we had lots of questions. The pizza crust options include cauliflower and gluten-free for an additional cost. The orders we had were on the small side, and the French Fries were underwhelming. It would be a great option for people to order different sizes of fries. I liked my steak sandwich with onion rings on it (the little dipper) and the accompaning dipping sauce. I really enjoyed the horseradish dip for the fries. My friend loved her salad but was happy she also ordered the pizza and fries due to the size of the salad, and the lettuce in her salad was less than overwhelming. If I return, I might try the cactus fries, wings, or pizza. I found the booth we sat in to be quite comfy and spacious. There was plenty of free parking available, and the restaurant is wheel chair accessible. The...
