This is a warning to anyone wanting to dine at the Alliston A&W located on 10 Dunham Avenue or at any other A&W locations owned by Thomas and Domenic Ling. This is coming from an ex-employee.
DO NOT GO THERE. It's not worth your time, just find another place to dine at.
The owners are nothing short of cold profiteers who don't care about any of their locations or employees and they clearly do not know how to run a business.
Here are some (but not nearly all) of the reasons why you should stay away:
Food orders will almost always be wrong, stale, underdressed, or cold. It is common protocol at this location to serve food well after its expiry date as to save on waste. (The owners endorse this action.)
This location will often be depleted of common products as the management team can't seem to keep up with filing supply orders.
The dining room is always filthy- and you don't even want to go behind the scenes. The kitchen in the back often has old food lying around. The walls, counters, as well as every corner of the back area are caked with scum and black mold. And if you look close enough, you should be able to notice ants on the dining room floors.
You will wait in the drive thru well after your order is ready. The people working there are a joke and make rude customers wait an extra five minutes for their orders. This causes a nasty chain reaction where everyone else will have to wait too. And that place sees plenty of rude customers at every hour.
The space where burgers are made is an unsanitary mess and there is an abundance of cross-contamination. Kitchen employees barely ever wash their hands after handling raw meat or picking up garbage. This makes food...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we waited 20 mins. to place our order and not only did the person taking the order not listen carefully, but she also lied to me about pricing because she was trying to get the line moving after realizing how long people had been waiting.
I ordered 3 kids meals and one adult meal, and I asked very clearly whether I could upgrade the kids drinks to root beer floats. She said, yes, there's an upcharge but that's doable.
I was shocked when my bill came to almost $50. It turned out she didn't charge me an upcharge. She simply charged me for 4 combos PLUS 3 root beer floats. So, 7 drinks in total. First, she lied and said the kids meals didn't come with a drink since I ordered the root beer floats. And then she said she'd give me all 7 drinks. I waited so long to order just to end up with 7 drinks when I only needed 4 drinks, with no offers to rectify the issue.
People behind me who hadn't been waiting as long were defending the staff saying they were short-staffed so, I should have some pity. But at the end of the day, I paid for 7 drinks when I only ordered 4. Where's the pity for the money I was charged for products I didn't want?
I work in the service industry so, I am an empathize with being short-staffed but I always offer to rectify issues with customers. I don't rip them off because it's easier for me to do that and move the line along, instead of telling the truth.

Read moreWell then. This is a really tough review. I like A&W food and this restaurant has been a good performer over the years. Today was a real life example of incredible ineptness. I placed an order for drive through pick up through the app. That was a little challenging as the app requires some practice to really use smoothly. I got to the drive through and the order was ready. It was bagged and the receipt was on the outside. I quickly glanced at the receipt and saw only drinks and fries. Since these were described as combo fries and drink I was okay with this although a liitle concerned and asked the server if that was the entire order. That was confirmed and as the bag was sealed it was difficult to confirm so off home I went. Well the sandwiches were missing and I only got the combo fries and drinks. I called and they confirmed that was my order. No sandwiches just a combo fries and combo drink. This should have been a red flag to the servers. I had to return to the restaurant and show the electronic receipt and they made me 3 sandwiches. I got 3 sandwiches and took them home. They apologised for the inconvenience. I went home and ate my sandwich and cold fries and warm drink. This is not a good experience. It is actually a very poor experience.
