Mike's Shawarma — Restaurant in Newmarket

My kids (teens) have been coming here for some time after sports and workouts, quick healthy options was what they always told me. I came here for the first time tonight on our way out of Newmarket and WOW was I pleasantly surprised! We ordered take out 20 minutes before closing time, my husband called in to pre-order and we were expecting that on a Friday night they would have been put out by the last minute order. NOT AT ALL! We were greated with a smiling owner Mike and his family who works along side him. We were apologizing for coming in so late and he would not have it. Pleasant and grateful for the business we chatted about family and how business has been. We ordered a chicken shawarma plate and a chicken shawarma wrap. I took pics of the platter but the wrap had no chance of it getting photographed. It was FANTASTIC! Fresh ingredients and warm just as I expected even at the end of the night. The grilled chicken was flavorful and not dry, now I know why my kids keep coming back. Support local business and cash is the best way to pay (puts more in small business owners pockets)

5/5 – Incredible Shawarma at Mike’s Shawarma!

I recently stopped by Mike’s Shawarma, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the inviting aroma of grilled meat and spices filled the air, and the friendly staff made me feel right at home.

I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, with a slight char that gave it a great smoky flavor. The bowl was loaded with fresh veggies, fluffy rice, and topped with the creamiest garlic sauce. Every bite was a delicious mix of savory, tangy, and fresh flavors!

I also had the chance to try the falafel, which was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, paired perfectly with their smooth tahini sauce. The sides, like the hummus and pickled veggies, were equally delicious and added even more to the meal.

The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food.

Overall, Mike’s Shawarma is a must-visit if you’re in the mood for authentic shawarma made with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. I’ll definitely be coming...

“What does it take to run a GOOD restaurant in Ontario/Canada?” Mikes place sure does it!!! To start, the reviews were what pulled us in- we did question if they were bought reviews… because it’s very rare to have such a high scoring but more on that in a second..

1. the door was NOT propped open… which you know let’s all the flys in, and allows them to lay eggs on your uncooked food.. so THANK YOU for that.
2. the restaurant was CLEAN! It’s clear they take pride in their restaurant
3. we were GREETED with kindness!
4. prices were completely reasonable for the amount of FOOD!
5. everything was FRESH and some things even homemade!! Which is hard to find these days..
6. again, CLEANLINESS… gloves were worn after handling our cash!!
7. bathrooms were clean and for PAYING customers only!
8. after eating for a while a gentleman ( who I assume was Mike himself) came out to greet us again, Simply asked how our food was and if we needed anything… and asked us for a GOOGLE REVIEW! But a quick conversation to connect with your diners.. brilliant!
