Went there for my official St.Patricks Day Dinner and since they had sponsored a Shamrock Shaker Party at the Legion, I decided to have my St.Patty's Dinner there instead of going to Shamrock Shaker Party.
They do not have Menus. They have their Menu written on a great big Chalkboard. The Decoration is sort of like the inside an old fashioned Log Cabin with cute little names at each Booth. I sat at the 'Redneck BBQ' Booth and ordered the St.Louis Rack with Caesar Salad. They have a variety of other sides although they do not have Potato Salad.
My Order came within 15 to 20 Seconds which is faster Service than I had ever known of before from Restaurants like this. And the Waitress was very accommodating and gave Good Service.
The Beef Ribs were very well done with very tasty BBQ Sauce and the little cup of Cole Slaw that came with it was very tasty. It also had some very tasty Corn Bread too.
Along with that, I tried some Nokomis Brown Ale which was as good as any Guinness Stout that I have ever tasted. Since it was St.Patricks Day, I thought they might have some Guinness Stout available but they did not. But after tasting the Nokomis Brown Ale, I will not hesitate to have that again.
After Dinner, I asked if there was any Desert available and was informed that there was not. First time I have ever known of a Restaurant that had no Deserts available, so 1 Point off for that.
I found it to be a Main Course BBQ Restaurant that had very good well cooked and the Brown Ale was very good. I would not hesitate to go...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dam Smokehouse in Nipawin, and let me tell you, it wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere set the tone: rustic sophistication with just the right amount of charm. But what truly elevated the night wasn’t just the food (which, let’s be honest, was spectacular); it was the impeccable service from Emma.
Let’s talk about Emma. She’s not just a server—she’s a maestro in hospitality. Attentive without hovering, sharp, quick on her feet, and effortlessly personable. She had an innate ability to read the room, recommend exactly what we didn’t know we needed, and make the whole table feel like VIPs. You could tell she’s someone who takes pride in her work, and it shows in every interaction.
Now, the food. The brisket? Smoked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor that stays with you long after the last bite. The ribs with the side of lemon juice! Were simply heavenly. Pair that with their carefully curated selection of craft beers, and you’ve got a combination that hits all the right notes.
The Dam Smokehouse gets it. They understand what makes dining memorable: an exceptional menu, a welcoming atmosphere, and staff like Emma who remind you why you’ll come back. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor—skip the ordinary and head straight here. It’s more than just dinner; it’s a masterclass in how it’s done! I’d give ten stars for service if there...
Read moreNipawin has been blessed with The Dam Smokehouse which serves the best BBQ this side of Texas, Missouri and the Carolinas! If nothing else, you MUST try their beef brisket which is amazing however all of their dishes are great. As soon as you walk in, it is obvious that the owner(s) poured their heart and soul into this establishment. Delicious food aside, the charming and rustic "BBQ shack" decor, locally brewed craft beers and the fact they don't serve wine but you can bring your own bottle for a reasonable corkage fee are a few more reasons to give this place a try. I have been to many BBQ establishments such as this in the US and Canada but The Dam Smokehouse's quality, portion size and value beats them all hands down! My only "complaint" (and I'm being nitpicky) is they only have Tabasco sauce on request or Louisiana hot sauce in small packets at the tables. A few more choices of hot/savory sauces (habanero, chipotle, etc.) would be nice. That being said, I will definitely be back whenever I am...
