I’m disappointed to share this review after being a loyal customer for many years. Today, I placed a standard pickup order for nine sandwiches and was informed of a 15% mandatory gratuity, which I accepted and paid. However, when I went to the café to pick up my order, I inquired about this policy for standard pickup orders (as opposed to catering orders, which I understand due to the additional time, preparation, and presentation required).
I was taken aback by the staff's curt response and the lack of a clear rationale for the charge. To me, it seemed like arbitrary price gouging. I was told that the gratuity was due to the space the order occupied on the grill and the extra time it took for the employees. When I sought further explanation, the employee mentioned only that other restaurants have similar policies but did not provide a detailed rationale. It seems to me that most places would prefer to sell more to their customers rather than impose what feels like an unfair charge.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but there seems to be a clear distinction between being served at a sit-down restaurant and picking up a takeout order at a café. I have yet to encounter a restaurant that requires a 15% auto-gratuity for pickup orders. I hope the 15% gratuity is worth the lifetime value I would have brought to the business.
This interaction left me feeling undervalued as a customer. Given this experience, I regret to say that I will not be returning to this restaurant. If the café had provided a logical explanation that made sense, I would not have felt compelled to write...
Read moreI discovered this shop through a friend's recommendation and have occasionally ordered their sandwiches, which I've always found delicious. However, my recent visit for a DoorDash delivery left me feeling incredibly disrespected, and I felt compelled to leave a review.
Upon entering, I greeted the employee with 'Hi,' but they didn't even acknowledge me or make eye contact. When I stated the customer's name, there was still no response or glance in my direction. They simply handed me a pre-packaged paper bag with an air of annoyance. Even after I said 'Thank you,' I was completely ignored. There were no other customers waiting to order; I was the only one in the store. This level of rudeness was quite surprising and frankly, unacceptable. I have to wonder if this is how delivery drivers are typically treated by this employee or at this establishment.
If this review reaches the employee or owner, I sincerely hope they remember that delivery drivers can also be regular paying customers. This experience was so unpleasant that it has unfortunately overshadowed the positive memories I had of your otherwise delicious sandwiches. I am very...

Owner bought a chalkboard and raised prices to $17-18 per sandwich before taxes + tips. Honest take? There’s no justification for charging this much for a small sized sandwich only to leave hungry. It’s painful to see the owner challenge their long term patrons in the recent reviews, claiming they’re “evolving” as a business rather than taking responsibility for mismanagement of their operations. Blaming the people who kept you afloat isn’t a good look to keep you in business, and the answer isn’t passing the buck to the consumer.
