Food was alright!
We ordered a large steak burrito (which I had to double check was not ground beef, the steak is VERY grainy and dry, might as well be ground beef) and a ground beef burrito (was hard to tell them apart aside from one being large and one a regular). Both were okay, but felt a little lacking flavour-wise - similar, in all honesty, to Quesada - kinda plain. With only one kind of rice as an option, and no option on Uber eats to mix beans your options, your liberty on the core components of the burritos are limited - although their pickled onions and jalapenos were good (although it's not hard to get those right). Definitely wasn't enough sauce for my taste, it was basically drowned out by the 50% rice in the large steak burrito - which, not bad by itself, but up the sauce please 😅
We also ordered their new nacho chicken soup, which didn't wow us - pretty tame in terms of spice, which also overshadows essentially a tomato soup with corn, beans and chicken. A little plain for our tastes - we've consistently preferred the soup from Qdoba when comparing mexican / burrito restaurants here in London, and unfortunately the soup here was not an exception. The included chips were not exactly stand out either - definitely not freshly made, and honestly look and taste very similar to other local / small scale Mexican restaurants in the area, making me think they all source them from the same provider (compared to Burrito Boys or Qdoba who clearly have their own suppliers). Definitely not bad, but nothing I'd go out of my way for.
Overall, tasted more like something I could put together at home than something I'd go out of my way to order, so if you're in a hurry and just want some moderately priced burritos, might be worth checking this place out! Soup is okay too, not to our taste but is cheap enough as a side.
Overall - nothing particularly special, but bonus points for being Canadian, and tasting relatively healthy / fresh in terms of...
Read moreTireless inconsistency and incompetence here. I have gave this location several chances, they even know me when I come in. Unfortunately today was the last time. I typically am a huge fan of bar burrito but this particular location is making me lose interest all together. I was at work today and figured I would order a burrito bowl for lunch via uber eats since I didn’t have time to visit the store. I asked for a mild chicken bowl with onion, tomato, green pepper, lettuce & corn. I was VERY disappointed when I opened my bowl to find that there was no tomato at all, and not even a sprinkle of the other veggies except for lettuce on my bowl. So basically it was rice, chicken, lettuce and sauce.. gross. I have changed my review at their request from my last negative experience but yet again they didn’t fail to disappoint, if you want a better experience the locations on Wonderland and Oxford will actually put what you order on your bowl.. and not be skimpy about it. I am going to attach a photo, but this location simply needs to be better, you lost a somewhat regular customer, you had someone who gave multiple chances. Also, to note, asked for Ancho chipotle aswell, that was missing entirely too. Not a great location, avoid at all cost and go to the better...
Read moreI ordered their crunchy chicken 3-taco meal today. Couldn’t have more disappointed in what they claimed to be the “standard” amount of protein on the burritos: 2 BITE-SIZED sized pieces of chicken per burrito. One tiny little bite at the beginning, nothing in the middle and one at the end, all done very strategically as the employees are watched over the shoulder by their manager.
And yes, I did ask if this was the standard amount of protein. It was. I was taken back.
Now the toppings: the grossest lettuce I’ve ever seen served in a shop before. Couldn’t have been wetter. I actually waited half an hour after eating half of one burrito to make sure I didn’t get sick before I had any more.
Portion control on the toppings is way over the top there. If you do not ask for extra of any of your toppings, you will be left with the most pathetic version of a burrito you could ever imagine. I’ve been here 3 times in total, but this is by far the saddest experience yet.
The chips and salsa that come with the meal are the only saving grace.
Do yourself a favour and skip these guys, they are not worth it. I should’ve walked out...
