My husband and I spent $80 ordering dinner which is ridiculous but we thought ok well it must be good then. Boy were we ever wrong.. Maybe it's cause we're from Vancouver Island where Chinese food is excellent so we will always compare to that but we were extremely disappointed. My kids didn't even eat it and they eat everything.. That says something.
Firstly we got soggy, floppy spring rolls that tasted very off like the contents inside were old.. What is considered chow mein in BC (noodles) is actually bean sprouts here. Thankfully from asking the lady there we knew what to order to get the actual noodles but they were extremely dry and parts were undercooked, the chicken in it was grey? I hope we don't get sick! It also tasted very bland. The pork balls were alright but the sweet and sour sauce didn't taste like anything?
The pork fried rice was "meh" as my husband said but I didn't have any. The fried mixed vegetables tasted terrible and had this foul smell of urine which my husband said it smells like they used old oil to fry it in.. Ew! The only somewhat decent thing we ordered was the general tao chicken but I wouldn't say it was anything special. The fried chicken wings I took one bite and almost puked and I'm not a picky person but again like the chicken in the noodles it tasted very off and had this unsual smell. Also thankfully you had plastic bags covering the paperbags because the paper bags ripped open due to the puddles of grease at the bottom..
All in all the food was absolutely disgusting and $80 bucks down the drain for food we basically threw out. We live in Odessa and didn't feel like driving all the way back to get our money back when our kids were tired and hungry. I had to make something else for dinner.. Thanks! Word of advice when someone comes in spending what we did you should make everything with care. Heck you should make everythung with care no matter what! Use FRESH ingredients and learn where the spice cupboard is. I don't have $80 bucks to waste. We will NEVER be back. Rated one star because I couldn't give you a zero. Give your...
Read moreHorrible food. Horrible response to our complaint. $57.00 spent. Threw out all three of the main dishes.
Here’s the sad tale:
Yesterday (April 16) ordered 2 won ton soup with noodles, and 3 main dishes (house fried rice and two chicken dishes). The three main dishes were literally stinky. They smelled rank, and the rice and noodles were mushy. The soups were fine.
I had a single bite of the fried rice and a taste of the chicken and vegetables and had to spit out the food.
We threw out every dish.
So, today I called and spoke to two staff members. The first one politely asked me to wait and got a not-very-pleased person who asked me what was the problem with the food. I told them that the smell was bad and the food was mushy and had a terrible taste - not at all fresh, veggies and chicken sticky and mucky. That my wife is still tasting the yuk, 24 hours later.
They told me that the food was fresh and nothing wrong with it. To be fair, they offered to give us half off another $57.00. They said they’ve been there forty years and never had a problem.
I’ve never known a business that had a perfect record every day for forty years.
We will never be back to the...
Read moreI had a day of business in Kingston and decided I wanted to have Chinese food before leaving town that evening. Based on the good reviews and the online menu, I chose this restaurant. I was not disappointed.
First off it was easy to get to in a quiet part of town with lots of free parking. I actually was able to see my car from the table by the window.
The gentleman, who is the owner, served me, and was very warm and friendly.
I planned ahead, based on their online menu, and chose the combo dinner 6 which was an incredible amount of food for the price. The won ton soup was delicious with three or four noodles plus bbq pork slices along with chopped vegetables. I would rate it as the best won ton soup I have ever had. The other standout item was the dai dop woey which had a lot of meat along with the veggies. I was surprised to see so many shrimp in it.
The food was fresh and steaming hot the way I like it. It was also prepared quickly. They also are bang on with timing for preparing and serving the different courses: soup, egg roll, and then main dish.
If I am in Kingston again or passing by I will definitely be stopping by for another meal at this fine...
