I've been to eat at Kaleys alot since I moved to Simcoe. I've always been satisfied and it's been a number one meeting spot with friends, or to bring my family for lunch and dinner. Today I was very disappointed when I recieved my meal, I had ordered fish and chips and I was not able to eat the fish. It was overcooked and tough, I could hardly cut through it with knife and what I did taste was chewy and fishy. I have never sent a meal back at Kaleys before but today I had to and when I asked for the fish to be taken off my bill the server said she would see what she could do. I did eat quite a bit of fries so I figured she would take off the fish and charge me for whatever a plate of fries would be. She said she could only take off the extra peice I had ordered and that she took off the gravy. I've never been to or worked in a restaurant that charged patrons for food that they could not eat, and with how often I've eaten there I'm just really flabbergasted that I was charged full price for an inedible meal. The server did explain that the fish had been precooked and frozen and that it was just the sides that were tough and not the middle but I shouldn't have had to dig around my food for the good parts. Just really set a bad taste for me and I will probably not be returning. I understand that not everything is perfect all the time but the customer shouldn't have to pay for that. So I will be finding a new spot to frequent...
Read moreFirst time at Kaley"s and I am very happy I stopped in. This has now replaced my favourite restaurant, in the area, for my number one place to eat in Simcoe, Delhi, Waterford and Port Dover etc. Large nicely illustrated menu to order from. I enjoyed looking it over I asked the customer, seating at the table beside me, what was a good choice on the menu and she replied; everything. I ordered the Fish And Chips, single piece, for $13.50. It had a lighter unusual and very nice batter on it and the homade French Fries were just perfect for me. A delicious small bowl of Cole Slaw and homemade Tarter Sauce along with a slice of Watermelon, Cantaloupe and a Strawberry on the plate resembled a meal at a 5 star restaurant. Many selections of frozen soups etc and meals along with a bakery section. Diffinately, a step above the other local restaurants. You won't be sorry if you take my advice and stop in to Kaley's for a meal or a dessert and a cup of...
Read moreFirst time at this place. My wife had medical tests in Simcoe and I tagged along. We had plenty of time between tests and eventually strolled into Kaley's. The outside of the restaurant doesn't really grab your eye. Inside the dining area was nice though. It didn't seem to be air conditioned on the day we showed up (on the hottest day of summer). Probably their A/C wasn't working.
Anyway, I ordered the fish & chips and my wife ordered a soup and salad.
My piece of fish was okay, kind of standard coating and maybe just slightly over-cooked. The fries however were quite amazing, with a nice seasoning of pepper and some other spices. I really enjoyed it. It came with coleslaw, cantaloupe and orange slice.
Overall a pretty decent meal.
My wife's soup was alright and her salad came in a most delightful salad bowl. She said the salad was good.
I would return to try other...
