The restaurant experience wasn't as one may expect. We were greeted by whether we have a reservation or not in a very strange way as if the reservation is required. (My gut tells me they profiled us) Then, we were seated as if we were a burden without any hospitality whatsoever. Our waitress was monotone and did not show interest in our table. We were waiting for over half an hour to get served the appetizer.
I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage and was served the drink with vodka in it! For obvious reasons I didn't drink it and didn't complain about it since we had a "friendly" waitress!
The appetizer was delicious, but we didn't have the means to eat everything (a spoon would be nice). We ate the mussels and left the sauce in the plate. Why serve food that can't be eaten?
The bread is listed as freshly baked, but I don't think anyone would say so for what was served to us. I am not an expert in baking, but I am certain the bread was not freshly baked!
The seafood platter that I had was outstanding. Very delicious and highly recommended, same goes for seafood platter with Alfredo pasta. Delicious.
When it was time for the check, the lady brought the POS device and charged the card without giving a receipt first to know what we are paying for. It would be nice to see a detailed receipt of what is being charged before we pay. We felt rushed to leave the restaurant immediately.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and the service could be...
Read moreFor our first trip to Erieau, Ontario, friends had recommended we dine at Molly and OJ’s, situated in the heart of this pretty lakeside village. We found the restaurant cozy, clean and friendly on the inside, but in these social distancing days, we opted for the outdoor patio. It was a hot August day, so we invited our dog to join us. We relaxed with a view of the bustle of the main drag. Both owners greeted us warmly. Our waitress provided friendly, funny service. When she let us know that her husband was the cook, we figured we had the inside track on what to order. We chose the perch platter with lemon pepper sauce and it was delicious. Perfectly done fresh fillets had just the right amount of tang and gentle pepper kick. My husband is not a fan of the goo that gets passed off as tartar sauce. Molly and OJ’s lemon pepper had him scraping the bottom of the container to get the last smidge. We chose local beers as the accompaniment. We are unabashed beer snobs and love to explore Ontario’s smaller brewers. Sons of Kent 1792 Ale out of Chatham and Bayside Long Pond Lager from right across the street, were smooth, flavourful and thirst quenching. They were so enjoyable, we brought some home to share with friends. All in all, we enjoyed a memorable meal with service that made us smile. Molly and OJ’s is a restaurant that tries to make its customers happy - and succeeds. Highly...
Read more1 stars. The waitress that greeted my friends and I was very rude to us and wasnt helpful. My friends and I were visitinf Erieau and were nervous to ask for a table. The waitress, I believe her name was Sandy, just starred at us and had attitude when talking to us. Another older woman came over to our table to give us our menus and asked multiple times if we wanted the pub area even though my friends and I said no. She was quite rude with her facial expression when she learned that we were staying at our table. When an older couple came in, Sandy greeted them with the warmth that lacked when she had greeted my friends and I. We had just come from the beach so we were in baithing suits and had specks of sand on us while other customers dressed in a more conservative fashion and seemed much older. I thought that the two waitresses were ageist towards us. Im never eating there again. It was very uncomfortable to eat there and we wanted to leave as soon as possible. No tip. Also, my friend ordered a caesar salad for thirteen follars that was the surface area of a baseball. The only appealing part of this horrid place was the kindness of a young...
