South Windsor's Penalty Box — Restaurant in Ontario

Although I'm giving the restaurant a 3-star review that might be more about expectations than actual performance. My last meal at Penalty Box was probably about 5 years ago at the Walker Road location. I had fond memories of the food, and the atmosphere. This trip to the Vabana location was a last SECOND decision (I was heading somewhere else and changed my mind right as I was about to pass it by). The menu was much shorter than I recalled from my prior visit to Walker Road, and I didn't remember which dish I had enjoyed those many years ago. Ignoring the recommendations of the staff, I ordered a PLAIN hamburger on regular bread with extra patty. The person taking the order had trouble entering the order into the POS system and when I asked what the problem was, she candidly admitted nobody had ever ordered the extra patty. I had said NO to the signature sauce, opting for plain mustard. I had also ordered pickles, but they didn't have pickles. So, with plain bread (instead of a bun) and nothing to add any flavour or moisture to the relatively dry patties, I ended up not really enjoying my meal as much as I had hoped. Yes, it's my fault for not using the sauce and not ordering the Chicken Supreme, but those patties were probably a tad overcooked to be that dry. I may go back, if only to give myself another chance to order a more satisfying meal.

Ordered a chicken delight with half fries half Greek salad with a side of ranch for pick up. Was ready on time and that’s about as good as it got for me. Barely any sauce on the wrap which is - of course - the reason why I ordered it. Didn’t taste any sauce until 3/4 down the wrap. The salad though oh man. There was HALF of ONE cherry tomato in the entire salad, 2 pathetic pieces of cucumber and maybe 4 slices of a pepper. I’m sorry but if I pay 18$ for a meal could you at least humour me with a full cherry tomato? I get food prices have increased which it clearly reflects for almost 20$ for a wrap and a side but to be so frugal with the meal itself is so disappointing. The best chicken wraps you will find anywhere. This location is a bit odd where there is seating but everything is take out based.

There is always a wait no matter which Penalty Box you go to because their Chicken Delight is one of a kind and massively in demand.

A word to the owners. Please bring back the potato wedges. The new fries are just not part of that classic experience we love. Another point for this location is to save some money. Get rid of the plastic bags and the takeout containers. Even if you did trays and paper plates I think it would be better as an experience and also for overall waste.
