To put it shortly, we had a very disappointing evening. In all fairness, (who I assume to be) the manager seemed nice and the food was reasonably tasty for the price point. However, the service that we received was very lackluster; I don't think it was any one individual's fault necessarily but perhaps the operation was just disorganized.
We showed up to get a table around 6:30pm and was shown to our seats within a few minutes. This was where things started heading south unfortunately. We sat there for around 15 minutes just completely ignored - no one came to take our orders nor give us any water. Perhaps they didn't see me for some reason but several staff just walked right by me even though I was almost completely turned around in my chair (I was seated with my back to the aisle) trying to get someone to pay attention to us. I tried to wave someone down several times and was told every time that someone was coming though, again, no one came until a good 15 minutes in. After we finally got our orders in, we were again left waiting around 30-40 minutes before we got any food. I did notice that some other tables had a long wait also for their food (though they did not have to wait for pure service, period) so I imagine that, again, the whole enterprise was simply disorganized.
Regardless, unless there is a significant improvement in the level of service this is not a place we would return to...
Read moreIt bothers me to write this, but I've never left a restaurant after 2 bites of food before, but tonight was a first.
I drive by the Cannery every day to and from work and I decided tonight i was going to finally try it. Ordered the crab cake as a starter while I was trying to decide on a main, and I'm glad I didn't commit to anything else. It was somewhere between luke warm and cold at the same time. Pasty and sticky on the inside, I'm still unsure what I tasted was actually crab. Our server initially responded and tried to address the issue, but apparently the chef (or whoever in the kitchen he spoke to), said it was cooked properly. I will disagree there. Then the bill arrived at full price. He kept asking what we wanted them to do to fix the situation. My answer is take accountability that meal was not remotely up to par.
Mistakes happen, I'm not ignorant to that. But when they do happen, own it and come to your customers with options to resolve and if another meal can't be offered than an acknowledgement of their issue should be reflected in the bill.
I tried to call the restaurant after I left twice to discuss and there was no answer. Surprised that no one was able to answer the phone considering there was only one party of 6 in there...
Read moreDear Samantha & Emil,
I'm writing to express our sincere gratitude to both of you along with your entire Cannery Kitchen staff for your empathy and compassion in taking so much care of Soma and her numerous food allergies during our recent stay at your hotel. The magic you created with your food along with Chef’s Justin & Jay made our stay extra special. We sincerely appreciated you listening to Soma and delivering on all of her special requests.
The quality of food you prepared and served on all breakfast and dinner were beyond compare. Even the packed dinner on the last day was prepared and packed with so much care that we do not have words to express our gratitude. We are genuinely touched by your kindness.
A special shoutout to April, Amanjot & Emir at the restaurant for their special attentiveness, warmth of hospitality and understanding of Soma’s allergy concerns and the length they went to ensure a cross contamination free and dedicated area in the restaurant for her. We were truly touched by the length at which Emir and April went to pack our carryout dinner on Sunday for it to stay fresh till we reached home in...
