The Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Ontario

This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but after the horrible customer service I experienced with my last order, I am never ordering from here again. We ordered chicken chop suey and shrimp chow mein. I thought that the shrimp chow mein would be like their Cantonese chow mein with noodles at the bottom but with just shrimp for meat. When we realized that their shrimp chow mein was basically the same as chop suey (bean sprouts) but with crispy fried egg noodles for sprinkling on top, we called back assuming it was a mix up. The lady on the phone was extremely short with my boyfriend and explained that the Cantonese chow mein and shrimp chow mein are different, and then hung up before he could get a word in. So I called back and she started yelling at me saying she was busy. I am 6 months pregnant and her yelling at me made me break out in tears. I asked for a refund for the shrimp chow mein but she just kept repeating that it was our fault for not knowing what they were, and that we should have asked first. Maybe your restaurant should explain on the menu that the only chow mein that comes with noodles is the Cantonese chow mein, and that the other chow mein's only come with bean sprouts.

I'm extremely upset with how we were treated. We don't eat out very often and we look forward to when we can treat ourselves to takeout. My family and I have been a loyal customers for years, I've eaten at their restaurant ever since I was a child, and my brother and I went to school with their children. But we will take our business elsewhere now. ...

(I meant to give it 3 stars but it's not letting me change it for some reason. I have the dark reader add-on for my browser, and it won't let me see what I rate at all. I can't even set it to default for when I try to rate it). Friendly service and pretty good food. I've never experienced a very spongy and light mini cake before, which was amazing. I felt bad for the staff, though. There was some party event happening at the place, and the people that walked in to take their seats for the party weren't very nice to the staff. They would just give a brief "Yes" or "No" when answering the staffs' questions, have a sullen face, be in a hurry for nothing, and not make eye contact with the staff. Basically the only problem I have with the restaurant is how it's overpriced for what's available there, and what the quality of the food is like. Wasint sure about this place cause I had never heard of it before so, I looked it up online because I was driving through simco and wanted to grab some supper. Went inside and was seated by one of the waitresses and right away the owner or manager came over to the table and said “ I’ve been open here 21 years and never seen you in here before . Thank you for coming in . Very nice I thought ya know ? To be greeted so nice that . Anyway the buffet is great !! 5* food and hot and fresh . It is a bit pricy but , it’s well worth it when you look at how great of a selection that’s there . I will for sure visit the place again . Very pleased with it .
