Dinner hour, but the dining room was not full. This is the table we were directed to, and there were 3 in our party, so one person would have to look at the wall. A table was occupied beside us, no other tables occupied nor offered to us, there were 5 other tables in this particular area. I asked for another, this one was not suitable, and it was a dark corner. I was given a surprised reaction, guess this restaurant is not used to people requesting this, but I want to be comfortable talking to my company, not sitting in a corner, especially with better tables available. I did receive an immediate pushback, I was putting the greeter in a difficult position, because now she had to go look at the layout of the dining room, and then come back and tell us yeah or neah; there was no 'reserved' sign on the table, what gives? And then the looks between the greeter and the waitress started, I was watching them, smiling to each other. The food was bland, except chicken was tasty, but rice was bori g, veggies over cooked;service was not good, til the end, when the waitress presented the bill, then she was smiling, being friendly. I was smiling too, was happy to get out of there. The other 2 guests enjoyed their meal of pizza for one and parmigiana for the other, which I am happy about. For me personally, nothing to scream about, not sure about those prices, did not equal the value. I won't be back. And you know I was disappointed because I have taken the time to write this long boring excuse of a review.

Update... Quality of the food has gone down since my original review in 2018 despite having frequented this establishment seval times since then. I had a craving for Fish and Chips. I've had them on previous occasions and the portion is good as WAS the quality. As always I ordered take out and brought it home to enjoy. However.. I did NOT enjoy this dinner... I'd have dropped my rating to a 1 if not for the other 2 meals being enjoyed by my wife and mother-in-law. Upon opening the cover I was shocked at how few fries there were. Easily half of what there used to be. I could have put them in McDonald's french fry box (pictures attached) . The tartar sauce container was actually melted!!!! So it should come as no surprise that the fish was dry and chewy... Yes... I said chewy!!! It was as if they had pre cooked the fish and let it sit under a heat lamp for way too long. If I had of been dining in the restaurant I would have returned it. Moral of my review is this... DO NOT ORDER THE FISH AND CHIPS. 5 stars for their takeout counter. Generous portions and don't forget to either try the Caesar salad or purchase a container of the dressing. You'll thank me later. Take out counter is hidden around the side of the building. Call ahead and it'll be all packed and waiting for you when you arrive.

Absolutely one of our very favourite restaurants anywhere! We've been semi-regulars at Theo's for around fifteen years now, and every single visit has been consistently excellent. The food is prepared in-house - which definitely makes a huge difference - and everything we've had here has been unbelievably good. The chicken souvlaki, the veal cutlet, the steak sandwich, any of the baked pasta dishes, the Greek salad, the coconut curry shrimp...the list of fantastic dishes goes on. It's obvious from the appearance & taste of the meals that the people in the kitchen really care and they clearly enjoy what they're doing - a real plus! Service is always prompt & friendly...and the food always arrives HOT, not just warm. Note that reservations, especially for dinner, are strongly advised - it's worth a quick phone call to ensure that you get a table. Now that so many places have gone the corporate route, with predictable chain restaurants littering the landscape with their mediocre factory food, trucked in and assembled/re-heated (but not actually prepared on site), a place like Theo's becomes even more likeable. This restaurant is a Genuine Treasure, and always worth the drive to Orillia...from wherever you are. My highest possible recommendation.

If you review my Google profile, you will see that I rarely leave negative reviews unless they are necessary. I was surprised to see so many five-star ratings. I am one who eats out three to four times per week and tries all different types of cuisines, both cheap and expensive all over the world. My husband and I went into this restaurant to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. We started out with an order of bruschetta bread. I always enjoy a good bruschetta bread as an appetizer and could not believe that they would consider this a true bruschetta bread. It was served on a thicker bread which was soft with the juice of the tomatoes piled high. The bread was soggy!!! You could barely take a bite with the load of diced tomatoes falling onto your plate. There was absolutely no flavor all. And beware, if you want to add feta cheese to that, they will charge you $2.50 extra!! My husband had the lasagna and said it was okay, but it could certainly have had more layers. It was basically a soupy mess with a thick layer of cheese over top. I decided to try the fish and chips which came with coleslaw. I took one bite of the coleslaw and was completely taken aback. It tasted old. The piece of fish I got was dry and bland. I barely touched the fries, as there was nothing special at all about them given the caliber of this type of restaurant. I barely touched any of my dinner, so I decided to give a shot at a dessert which was Very Berry cheesecake. That was probably the best part of the meal, although very expensive for a tiny piece of cheesecake. I had expressed my concern about the bruschetta bread to our server and she said with a little bit of resistance that she would see what she could do. I didn't want to bother to tell her that my meal was a complete fail on every level. When we received our bill, the bruschetta bread was still on there and then I mentioned it to her and she said oh well, they said that's just the way they do their bruschetta bread and it was not removed from my bill. Our server was not super pleasant. I felt she was very robotic and was not really sincere. Because of this experience, I will never return and I will be certain to share my experience with anyone I know who may choose to dine here. Clearly, it is obvious that people are used to dining in very mediocre restaurants and that is why such high ratings. I must also caution you that this is not a true Italian restaurant, so do not go expecting to taste true Italian food. The sauces for all of their pasta are the exact same and are an orange brown colour. Unusual pasta sauce to say the least. I am an honest reviewer and want to let people know what to expect before they spend over $100 for...

We knew we would be in Orillia, and did a search of restaurants in the area. Since we were aware that it was going to be late, we had to choose restaurants that were open late and this fit the bill.

The minute we walked in we were glad that we had chosen this place, sidestep having some coupons for other local restaurants. They have a classy but casual look with some contemporary undertones. I actually felt a little under-dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with a baseball cap on, but they didn't seem to mind. The first question we asked since there was only one other couple in the restaurant, was to make sure the kitchen was open, and they also did not appear upset about that either.

We really enjoyed this place, and will definitely go back. There was a huge selection of lunches any one of which we would have ordered. Since it was late, we went with a chicken Parmesan split, with a Caesar salad as a side with the recommendation of the server. We went light, due to how late it was and not wanting something heavy like pasta. I did get a side order of extra fries, and it was huge and they were perfect. Crunchy but not overcooked, and consistently done. The sandwich was great, bun toasted well, and not over done with sauce so you could taste the chicken. Also, the side order of Caesar Salad was plentiful, and took up more than half of the plate. I can definitely see why this place gets the good reviews, and given the location and multiple medical facilities nearby they probably do very well at lunch. Service was good, and even when a server who walked by and wasn't ours notice my pop was empty, she took the initiative and noticed asking if I wanted a refill. Even after were were done eating, and ready to pay the bill our server offered me another drink. I normally like to visit the washroom, as this can often be an indicator of the kitchen, but given the rest of the experience do not think it would have been an issue. I highly recommend this place if you are in town, and worth the 20 minute drive from where we...

Booked a few tables for a small wedding party at theos. When we booked the room, two months beforehand, we tried to book the reservation for 25 people for around 6:00pm but were told that 7:00 would be better as the restaurant won't be a busy. We would have liked to have our reservation at 6, but we trusted the staff and booked for 7. We were told that we could have the room to ourselves, although I may be misremembering that detail.

On the day of our wedding our party started to show up at 7:00 pm and everyone arrived by 7:30. Some of the staff informed our party that they expected us to have ordered by 7. We ordered and generally enjoyed our meal, although one of our servers seemed to be having a bad day. She was inattentive and short to the point of rudeness.

After our meal we enjoyed some conversation but as soon as it hit 8:30 one of our guests had to leave and as we got up to bid them Farwell the staff took that as a cue to start clearing our table without consultation. Seems they really wanted to end the night.

As our party took the hint and began to pack up to leave, it seemed the server who was having a bad day became inaccessible to get the bill. I finally had to flag down one of the other servers to get the bill, which took a long time to get, but I suppose it's not easy to put together a bill for 25 people.

Overall, the food was good, and the prices were quite affordable, but the service was a little off that night. I still gave a good tip as I'm sure it is shared, and I didn't think it was fair to punish the other server for the attitude of one. Not what I wanted for my wedding dinner but this is a...
