The Quest for Cakes Bakery Inc — Restaurant in Orangeville

UPDATE SEPT. 14, 2024: Before visiting my family who live in Orangeville, I was asked what I wanted for dinner. My answer was the lasagna made at Quest for Cakes. Agreed! They love and buy this lasagna and other items on a regular basis. So lucky of them; I wish there was a Quest for Cakes Bakery in Toronto near where I live.

So, today we shopped at Quest for Cakes and bought the much-desired and anticipated lasagna (I'm so happy that it wasn't sold out!) I also bought one mild sausage roll (hot is also available there) as a snack and a package of raisin butter tarts that were reduced in price for quick sale. We were rushed for time in our schedule, otherwise I would have shopped around and bought even more at the time, e.g. a container of the cabbage roll soup.

Back home in Orangeville, we split the heated sausage roll (they'd never tried it before from this location) and we all absolutely loved it and wished we'd bought more. It was the best sausage roll that I've ever eaten - flaky, light pastry and delicious meat inside. Yummy! The lasagna was fabulous, of course. I knew someone before who said it was pointless to make lasagna at home because the delicious, meaty Quest For Cakes lasagna should always be bought instead. I agree. Besides, I'm far too lazy to even attempt to cook a lasagna. Buying one from here is the answer to that problem of mine! These bakers are geniuses at creating and baking this delectable Italian dish.

The raisin butter tarts were unpleasantly too sweet, the raisins were invisible and the pastry wasn't firm enough for our liking. Each tart crumbled and fell apart right away once removed from the tin foil baking cup. That's the only surprise and disappointment we've ever had from Quest For Cakes. Maybe this was just one batch of butter tarts that wasn't the level of perfection that we consistently expect from this superior, small local bakery. We've been spoiled by them for years! Big recommendation from me for you to shop there!

Pros: tasty vegan cake, in town Cons: expensive ($50 for a 6” cake), difficult location (travel through construction, gravel road, and road closures), difficult ordering process

I called Thursday to place an order for a vegan cake, I needed it Sunday but they’re closed so asked if it was possible for Saturday. Staff on the phone said it wouldn’t be possible (fair enough) but to come in and place an order instead since they receive a lot of no shows and to see what they have in store. I come in the next day (Friday) and I say I need a cake for Saturday. I was told to come in again tomorrow (Saturday) to see what was in stock tomorrow, I did not want to order a cake last minute so I said if I can’t secure an order now I’m not going to buy. They agreed to take my order.

I’ve bought multiple vegan cakes from Sweets of the Earth, and Vegan Danish Bakery. I was never charged as much for the final amount with customization, they were all bigger, and looked more professional. I did ask for a butterfly or 2 but it does not justify the steep price for a small cake. At least the cake was good tasting, but I will not be...

We wanted to give my mother-in-law a break on Thanksgiving from all the cooking she usually does every year, so we were looking to see who had cooked turkeys or Thanksgiving dinners. I also wanted to buy some sweets, so I stopped at Quest For Cakes. The lady at the counter said they had all types of sweets and also had turkey dinners and pot pies. I decided to to buy a large turkey pot pie, a turkey dinner, a tray of pasta and cinnamon rolls. That was the best decision I made. The turkey pot pie was delicious , the pasta was just great and the turkey dinner was perfect. The five of us were just amazed ! The taste, the portions and the prices were just the best. We could have not asked for anything better. We can't wait for Christmas because you can guess where we are ordering our dinners from.
