Big Bone BBQ & Wicked Wings - Kanata — Restaurant in Ottawa

My wife and I ordered for the first time from this restaurant this evening. We wanted to encourage a local business as we know times are tough for restaurants right now. So we chose the brisket and a pulled pork poutine and we've ordered through Skip the Dishes. When our order arrived at 7:40, we only had the poutine. We contacted Skip the Dishes who promised to process a refund for the brisket. However, they could not tell us what happened to it and advised us to contact the restaurant. We then called the restaurant and they informed us that they had run out of brisket. They also said that they had notified Skip the Dishes but clearly the message never got to us. We asked the restaurant then if they could send us another meal and they said that they did not have a driver and that they were closing at 8. So here we are, at 8 Friday evening, with only one meal. You would think that in a situation like this the restaurant would be apologetic, and maybe even offer us something for the future. No, they hung up and left us with one meal to share. Needless to say that we won't be encouraging this local business anymore. I'll finish with some advice: maybe it would be a good idea to notify customers when you run out of something and allow them to make another choice. A quick phone call explaining the situation and we would have made another choice. The only positive thing about this experience is that we didn't...

Extremely disappointing experience. We were really excited to try a local place after finding out about this place from a friend.

Ordered a Party pack + Strips + Cheese bread.

When I called, the gentleman had to check if they had enough cheesy bread and chicken strips....which was a bit baffling, considering what we received for these dishes.

Their "chubby cheesy garlic bread", were pre-made hamburger bun halves, with garlic spread and shredded cheese on it. Complete waste of money and we couldn't believe that's what was served as a dish for $10.75.

Same thing with their chicken strips; for $15 we received essentially what looked like frozen/fried chicken strips with hot sauce. They weren't even properly covered with the sauce and were very dry.

Ribs were a bit on the dry side but decent and same with the smoked jerk wings. The battered wings were more on the soggy side with little flavour.

On top of all this, the gravy x 2 that was forgotten and not included in the order. Considering the restaurant was empty when the food was picked up..two hours before they close; there's no reason for missing food items.

The food is absolutely not worth the price they charge for it; unfortunately unless they improve their qualify significantly, I can't in good conscious recommend this...

Love all the food here!!! Staff is super friendly, quick and always greet me with a big Hello soon as I walk in the door. I have eaten here many, many times and also have taken business clients here and our orders were fast, mistake free, and Always Perfect from the Next level corn bread ( I always order a full loaf to take home) My NEW favourite day of the week is Wednesday, it's because they serve BEEF RIB!!!!!!!! No don't get me wrong their pork ribs are tender, juicy and full of that smoked awesomeness flavour. But my Love is the Beef Rib Extravaganza I enjoy there every Wednesday night!!! Also all their servings are large and you won't leave they're hungry..... i've tried a few of the desserts the latest one I tried was the pecan pie and it was so good the crust was heavenly and it wasn't too sweet or rich like I find most of the other places that serve pecan pie. All I ask is, if you see someone running towards the Big Bone BBQ front door with a gleam in their eyes and smoke coming off their shoes please hold the door for me....cause I got a Hot date with A few pounds of Beef Ribs!!!! The little Perfect BBQ restaurant deserves all my praise and THE 5 STAR PLUS PLUS PLUS RATING!!!! I Gotta go now...it's almost...
