Wild Wing Kanata — Restaurant in Ottawa

We've always gone to this location, at leat for the past 8 years. Food is always great, wings flavour variety is amazing and portions are super decent, fries are amazing. I've always been a huge fan, and it's definitely better than most of other wings places in town, however our last time wasn't the best experience unfortunately. We asked about the half-price wings deal on Tuesdays before ordering (we always ask just in case things have changed) and the waitress confirmed the deal is on. So we all ordered wings, just to come to the surprise when paying the bill that "half-price" wings is not a thing anymore, now it's $12 per single order... More like "35% off wings Tuesday"

I don't mind the price increase, food is still great, but when asking the waitress again about the deal when getting our bills, she continued to say that half price was applied, when the bill clearly shows regular price 18.XX and a discount of 6.XX. Clearly 6 is not half of 18, but she continued defending the half price wings deal for some reason :)

Asked for a supervisor, there was no manager on site as they told me, so they couldn't honour the deal or change the price, we ended up paying the new price. Again, we don't mind the price increase, but maybe staff needs to be better informed and tell customers about the change, this whole situation could've been avoided if managed differently, unfortunately it ended up being a not so good experience. Before asking the waitress we also asked the person who got the table for us when we arrived, I was impressed to hear her say that she doesn't know and that she is not our waitress and that I can ask my waitress about that. Something else that could be improved :)

I keep saying that the food is great, I've just noticed that wings have decreased their size in the last couple of years but I guess that's understandable due to shrinkflation. Veggies are not included anymore with the wings order, you have to pay extra but the price for add-on veggies is really symbolic, maybe it'd be better to just increase 75 cents to the single wings order and keep including veggies in the order rather than telling customers that they now have to pay extra for veggies.

This last visit in general we noticed that kindness and attentiveness from staff wasn't there as usual since we first arrived to the restaurant, the place wasn't even 30% full ... Maybe just a bad day? I'd still recommend this place a 100 times because food is...

They lost three customers tonight! We have been regulars for over a year now and quite enjoy the wings and the staff. We go on different nights of the week and occasionally go for half price wings on a Tuesday as we did tonight after our run.

We had one order of wings each and two of us could not finish our meals. Personally I only ate two wings because for medical reasons I can never consume a full sized meal. I am perfectly happy ordering any meal knowing that I can take the leftovers home......wait for it.,...

When we ask for to-go boxes our server informed us that if we took the leftovers she'd have to charge full price. She said her manager checks the bills when he sees the to-go boxes to ensure that she has charged full price.

In over a year of us going there fairly regularly and periodically having half-priced wings and taking our leftovers, we've always been charged half price. Tonight was a shock. It's not like we ordered a huge pile of wings that we couldn't possibly eat just so we could get a deal. It was one order per person.

So, we will not be back. I am looking forward to trying the new neighborhood wing place that will be opening soon, whether they have half priced wings or not.

Well, maybe I am a bit biased being that I live around the block and spent the better part of 2 years frequenting this Wild Wing, but I truly believe this place deserved 5-starts from my perspective.

The food is always super good (who can hate like 100 flavours of wings?) and the beer is cold.

Service is almost always top-notch, although this may have something to do with many of the servers recognizing my roommate and myself, and food is typically quick! Some are much friendlier then others, but they all bring some solid wings and can pour a beer. Only a couple of times I've had to wait at the bar for a table, the result of showing up right before a Sens game typically, but there seems to always be space at the bar to wait a bit.

Being that I've been there far too many times for one human, I've identified my favorite wings as the Smokey Gar-Par (Spicey Gar-Par a close second). They have a lot of flavors going on at once, but they're the best cholesterol-packed, heart-attack inducing wings available.. Which I imaging is what people are looking for when frequenting a wings restaurant, right?
