It was my first time coming here and never again. I went with my family and was the first to arrive. Waitress served me water then seemed to disappear. She came back 15 min later to ask if I wanted a drink which I felt she could have asked when she poured the water. Once we ordered our food it took an hour and a half for it to arrive, I have never waited that long anywhere else. Waitress said the kitchen was short staffed but somehow other tables that came after us got their food sooner. Not sure but there seemed to be some kind of discrimination taking place. The waitress rarely checked in and I had to walk over to the bar to ask what was taking so long and get an apology. From other reviews made months ago seems like other guests have had a similar experience. You would think they would have hired more kitchen staff by now to solve the issue. Food came and some plates had huge servings while others were tiny but all similar pricing which is not fair. I left still hungry and frustrated from waiting so long just to have a tiny portion of bland unseasoned food and a huge bill. Don’t...
Read moreCyranos is a very nice and clean restaurant. Disappointed with the bundle promotion for COVID-19 takeout. It is 2 for $39. I found the bundle take-out misleading, as the options you have to chose is 5, but you can only chose 1 bundle for the 2 for $39. In short, I wanted to choose 2 separate bundles but couldn't. I chose the chicken parmesan. When I got home after picking up the food I was disappointed in what I saw. There was one small container consisting of 2 small pieces of chicken parmesan smothered in pasta sauce that didn't even look like it was breaded. In the container there was "spaghetti", but it looked more like Kalatal macaroni. The salad was very plain consisting of leaf lettuce, croutons, and an oil dressing - nothing else. Personally, I have issue with higher end restaurants serving leaf lettuce. My expectation is to serve romaine, boston, or something higher end. Overall, Cyranos is a good restaurant for quality food and nice ambiance. On this bundle take-out they should make changes, because it is not value for money even when it is promoted as 2 for $39....
Read moreI attended a retirement dinner for a colleague last night at Cyrano's. A highlight of the restaurant is the ambiance; it has a lovely atmosphere. The service at the bar and at our table was also excellent. My omnivore colleagues enjoyed their meals, which were beautifully presented when they arrived at the table. The chef is obviously skilled and it's for this reason that I hope Cyrano's develops a couple of delicious dishes for their vegetarian/vegan patrons. I ordered the Spinach Fettucine with Roasted Red Peppers and Scallops (hold the scallops), thinking that would be quite tasty even without the scallops. I have to say it was bland and I only picked at it a bit before pushing it aside. Some spice could have made the dish more interesting (it just tasted over-boiled) and I think toasting the pine nuts could have also added more flavour. With dinner prices that average $16-$32, and with a chef who obviously has talent, Cyrano's could easily put something on the menu (a quinoa and bean dish, perhaps?) to delight the growing number of diners with dietary...
