I like the place a lot, it has pretty good pizza... I'll get to that in a second. ✌😉 The place is modern in the sense that it is a converted building, has a garage or factory feel (it used to be something else that's quite apparent!) but I like what they did with it. There is indoor and outdoor seating.. it is kept clean and has a good open concept to it with service on two sides.
The pizza is basically the "Roman style", fairly flat with a more crunchy dough. We sampled a bunch of the types available, from the basic mozzarella, to the spicy one with olives, (sorry I don't know all the names!), to the bacon-topped onion one, the wonderful mushroom one with creamed ricotta cheese, and a couple more. We ate there and took the rest home.. but they didn't remain uneaten long heheh. We also enjoyed their mozza ball treats, I forget the specific name. Those were very lovely.
They have a good assortment of drinks, we simply had a soda, but there were coffee and espresso options (including Americano and iced coffee) and of course seemingly palatable and delectable desserts. We will be sure to sample some of those in the next visits!
Staff was friendly and helpful, no complaints in that regard.
The only thing to be aware of: at least as far as the pizza slices, they are Pay by Weight. So it will state a price per 100 g. Be aware of that.
I wasn't overly fond of that idea, though I'm sure they have their reasons.. I just figure it would work better for them if they did it by slice, but I suppose one of the aims is that they want you to have the option of trying many before being too full. Or anyone on a special diet? There are pros and cons to this. I just found it not quite to my own taste.
Overall it's a good place, not a lot of parking, and do be mindful of paid parking in the area, though if you're patient and frugal like me, you can find free places 😉 I simply don't believe in paid parking, that's just me.
We got lucky this time with a spot right in front.
Try these guys if you like this style of pizza. It is authentic to Rome, and not the greasy and/or fluffy type of doughs you might find elsewhere. Not bad at...
Read moreI ordered from ubereats because it was the first time I saw this place on there. I was impressed/intrigued by the descriptions of their pizzas (and the size) so I looked them up, saw some pics, and decided to order.
While I was waiting I got a little nervous because of some of the poor reviews. So when the pizza arrived (it was hot, unlike what other reviews suggest) I held my breath opening the box and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. It was beautiful really, I ordered the sotto casa and the crust was perfectly cooked (not burnt), you could see sauce peaking out from the edges, a respectable amount of cheese for the style of, lots of tasty mushrooms, beautiful whipped ricotta, and some fresh parsley sprinkled on top.
The crust was fantastic. I believe there is a misconception from a lot of reviews. This is a thin crisp crust, it is not meant to be airy and fluffy like Neapolitan pizza because it isn’t Neapolitan pizza. The crust was impressive, crisp and not chewy like other reviews suggested. It did not get soggy and help up well to the ingredients.
I ordered the half meter and it was sooo much pizza! With the quality ingredients I could only eat a slice and a half it was really satisfying. Regarding flavour it was balanced and met my expectations. I know management reads reviews so I wanted to mention that I wish that there was an option in delivery to get some Parmesan (and oregano, and chili flakes or drizzle of oil or honey) sprinkled on top. It was just missing that hit of Parmesan saltiness I enjoy, I wish it were an option to select when ordering.
I also ordered their garlic dip, it was so good. It wasn’t thick and mayonaise-like which can be kind of gross. It was light and herby and fresh -so good!
I tried the lemon gelato as well, it came with little cones which was cool! The sweetness was intense but it is still okay. Definitely house made.
Everything was great and stood up to delivery. The food is all fresh and real. If you’re concerned about bad reviews just give them a try! They’re actually really good if you understand what you’re ordering. I was very...
Read moreHonest and Useful Review Worth it, 5/5. This is the place to go, bottom line. Don’t waste your time anywhere else, food is elite, service is the best you’ll ever have and most importantly it is truly authentic. Not gimmicky/trendy. This place is a staple in the community and is consistent. Quality is unmatched.
About the food: Pizza, calzones, gelato (they have the best pistachio gelato), tiramisu, bomboloni, cannoli, espresso and cappuccinos. All the food is made from scratch with no nonsense. The quality ingredients you want with the Italian flavours you crave. Highly recommend if you come here, get a pizza, tiramisu for two, some gelato and the bomboloni. Absolutely divine!
Service: When I say unmatched, I mean it. Every single person we spoke to was not only polite and nice but very helpful and patient. Gave us clear instructions on what they had available, what was inside each item, the cost, and which items are the most popular. Now, what made them go above and beyond was that we had ordered pints of gelato, but want to sit for a little bit. They put it in a bag for us and kept it in the freezer until we were ready to leave. They gave us a little bread and water for our dog. And most importantly, they were happy, like they actually enjoy working there and subsequently make your experience feel enhanced.
Atmosphere: An open concept space where you can see all the food being made. Hot food on one side and cold food/desserts on the other. Some high top tables inside to sit/stand at, plenty of outdoor seating and lots of parking on streets.
Amazing spot, especially if you are deciding on where to visit while in Ottawa, 100% carve out time to visit...
