Nutty Greek Bake Shop — Restaurant in Ottawa

I just heard about this place from a friend and just had to go try everything on their menu! Alas it is pandemic times and not everything is available 😔. But what was available when I got there near the end of the day was phenomenal! I had the traditional Bougatsa, which is a Phyllo wrapped pastry with custard inside and sprinked with cinnamon...my life has literally changed. I wish I had bought more then the one solitary piece of sunshine that I did buy! I also tried their baklava cheesecake, feta cheesecake and oreo cheesecake. They were amazing! I can't pick a favorite between the baklava one or the oreo for different reasons... I also tried 3 different cookies from them...I wish I knew which ones I got specifically but I cannot. But they were some of the best cookies I have ever had! I have gotten used to cookies being so so and not really enjoying them anymore, but these cookies reminded me of what really delicious cookies full of flavour can actually taste like. So I would definitely recommend this place to everyone that loves flavourful sweets. I do recommend going earlier in the day and possibly mid week to be able to try more things as they do get sold out pretty quickly. And some menu items are unavailable for sale without pre-order because of pandemic uncertainty and their not wanting to waste ingredients unnecessarily. But I know I can't wait to...

The Nutty Greek is absolutely fantastic. I have gone in and had lunch many times, and have never been disappointed. At peak times there can be a line (which shows you how good the food is) but they move through the line very quickly and you never have to wait long at all. I have also tried their catering for my rehearsal dinner, and they did such an amazing job. When we went in to discuss the order, they were very honest and accurate about how much food they thought we should order. There was no pressure whatsoever to order more food, and they actually saved us money by telling us we had too much food. The food was hot and delicious and everyone loved it. It was packaged in a way that it was easy to store, and hand out leftovers. I also ordered my wedding cake and desserts from them. My wedding cheesecake was perfect, but I knew it would be because they've never disappointed me when I've tried their desserts before. I had mini cheesecakes and mini cupcakes too which were a perfect size for my guests, and saved me from having to have cut and serve a giant cake. And the guests LOVED them, everyone was raving about them! They are also a local family run business, and they are so friendly, kind and professional. I dropped by today in a Christmas spirit nostalgic in purchasing Greek Pastries. As recommended by my brother I wanted to try out this Greek shop in Ottawa.

I am unable to provide a review on the quality or taste of their pastry as I was not given the opportunity on purchasing their baked goods. I was treated in an unprofessional way, even more so as I was a treated like I was bothering the staff member in asking for Christmas baked goods that were not available. A staff member that I believe to be the daughter of the owner of the store. Greek community is very small you see. The only thing the staff member replied to me after I asked if you have any kourabiedes or melomakarona was ...No no we have none we are booked we are booked we are booked. I asked...can I order some for the future?. Her answer, in a belittling and dismissive demeanour was once again... no no no we are booked we are booked we are booked. I left by puzzled by her responses and embarrassed on how she treated me. I would hate to think that I was treated that way because they way I was dressed, track pants, baseball hat, just coming from training? Would I have been treated differently if I was wearing my normal suit and tie? Hmmm, I guess I will never know. Don't judge a book by its cover!
