Golden Crust Pizzeria — Restaurant in Ottawa

This place is great! I recently partook in the planning of an Ottawa trip with my local Air Cadet Squadron, one which I helped organize. On a limited budget, I was having a difficult time finding a pizza place that could affordably feed 50 hungry teenagers... until I found Golden Crust Pizzeria. On top of already very competitive prices, Ralph, the manager, provided us with an extra group discount in order to help us out. The customer service I received was top notch - the order was treated with the upmost level of professionalism and every care possible was taken to ensure we enjoyed our experience. A small error was made on the bill - without hesitation, arguing, or any sort of trouble, the error was rectified. In a world where good customer service is seemingly more and more hard to come-by, I can say with confidence that Golden Crust Pizzeria is the epitome of what customer service should be!

That said, I'd imagine people don't go to a restaurant for the customer service - they go there for the food! The food from this restaurant was definitely nothing to scoff at - with a wide variety of pizzas to choose from and amazing sides to accompany them, my cadet squadron enjoyed quite the treat! Personally, having tried several slices of different kinds of pizza, I enjoyed the meat lovers the most. That said, all of them were amazingly delicious; you really could not go wrong with a Golden...

Tonight we ordered Large 3 toppings, 20 wings as large poutine. Our usual when ordering from places. We've been looking for a new place and I don't think this place is it. The poutine was soupy (watery gravy), the fries were under cooked and small amounts of cheese. They cheaped out by not using cheeses curds (which I don't mind) but have the decency to load up the shredded cheeses (I've added a photo). We ordered bacon strips on the pizza and they did not inform us of only bacon crumble (it's not the same). The pizza was ok. I've had a lot worse. The wings were good. We went with a mild sauce because some places seem to add vinegar to their mild and call it hot. I didn't want to take my chance and just added good old rooster sauce at home. This place is only open till 10 on the weekends. Real bummer. One day we'll try again. We always give second chance. Maybe just...

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was, and how loaded the toppings were.

You also get the "local business" feel from this pizza shop. I walked in to place my order and waited in my car. They quoted me 20-minutes, so I just figured I'd wait in my car and go back inside to get the pizza in 20-minutes-- but the guy actually walked outside to bring me my pizza when it was ready. I don't know what it is, but it's little things like this that you only really see at local businesses, and it goes a long way.

I digress though. Like I said, the pizza is great. Similar style to Gabriel or Louis-- which is a thicker and heavy topping sort of pizza. I don't know if it's a limited time thing or not, but they have a $12 walk-in special for a large 1-topping pizza, which is a great deal.
