Pho Kam Long Restaurant offers a dining experience that genuinely captures the essence and flavor of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. This gem of a restaurant has quickly become a favorite destination of mine for a comforting, flavorful bowl of pho, among other delightful dishes.

From the moment I stepped into Pho Kam Long, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that beautifully mirrors the hospitable spirit of Vietnamese culture. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, with an aesthetic that balances simplicity and elegance, setting a perfect stage for the culinary journey ahead.

But it was their food that truly won my heart. Their signature pho was a masterclass in flavor and freshness. The fragrant broth, packed with depth and complexity, was a perfect companion to the tender meats and delicate rice noodles. Each bite was a delightful surprise, harmoniously marrying the different elements of Vietnamese cuisine - savory, sweet, and the right hit of spice.

Beyond the pho, every dish I sampled was a celebration of fresh ingredients and skillful preparation. The menu offered a wide variety of options, each well-crafted and authentically Vietnamese. It’s our new favourite go-to restaurant since we moved to the new neighborhood Quinterra, in Ottawa South. The restaurant owner Ms Minh is also the main chef, she is super nice, and always trying to improve her menu with more varieties. Either you order Pho or her special soup Bun Bo Hue or Bun Suông Tôm, beef and chicken broths are always delicious and very tasty. We love her summer rolls with shrimps, or grilled meats, they’re very refreshing with fresh veggies and herbs. And of course, we can’t say enough about her papaya salad to enjoy during this kind of heat and humid that we have this summer in Ottawa. My husband also tried bánh mì filled with grilled chicken or pork, even though we read the review earlier, but he found the meat is well marinated to make it so tender, accompanied with her homemade sauce with a hint of lemon grass, garlic, sweet and salty, and lots of shredded veggies, she doesn’t use regular, boring salty soya sauce straight from a bottle like others, her bánh mì is so big that my husband could save some for the next day. Pho Kamlong restaurant had changed a new owner since January 2025, Ms Minh Vu and her entirely family working together at the restaurant. They are representing Vietnamese hard workers in Ottawa, working long hours and never complain. My normal pho place was overly busy, so I called Pho Kam Long, where a young gentleman took my order, repeated the other correctly, and informed me it was only going to be 15 minutes. Fantastic!

Upon arriving, I was greeted by a wonderful koi pond, and next, the gentleman that was on the phone. He informed me that the location was just bought by a Vietnamese family in hopes of bringing life and authenticity back into the local pho spot.

To test their limits, I got deep fried pork wontons, a vermicelli dish with chicken, beef, and spring roll, alongside 2 small pho, both with beef, but one spicy, the other not. I was impressed with a different texturing batter of the wonton, alongside a refreshing, sweet but spicy sauce that flattered the appetizer. The vermicelli was phenomenal 👏 🙌. The pho had hints of northern style flare with its spicy, rich broth.

Like the 2 koi they saved that were left by previous owners neglected, the new owners will survive and prosper because their food shows they care.
